I don't think it is. I fiddled moving it around last night to see if i could make it show up by moving it around on my SD card.

Is it just a matter of putting it in my APPS folder, ordo I need to restart the whole process?

Cheers!

EDIT: Just placed all apps in apps folder and all A OK for the mo.

Thanks for your help so far dogeggs! )

Dazed and Really, Really Confused

I don't even know if this is the right thread for my issue, so I apologize upfront. Also thanks to anyone who can help out.

I am confused with all these instructions I have been looking at the last 2 days. I don't know what I am doing or which process I am suppose to follow.

My ultimate goal is to play back up games of my Wii discs in case they get ruined by burning them to a dvd. I have the 4.0 Wii System and I am American.

I was able to successfully upload HBC on my Wii. I then went to this post to try to update Wii System 4.0 to play back ups:

Mod your 4.0 Wii to play back ups, install homebrew, and load from usb, all without a mod chip!

In step five of these instructions I am to do the following:
5. Run the IOS60 updater
say NO to install IOS61
say YES to install IOS60
say YES to patch IOS60
say NO to install the shop channel

However the process fails before I can say No to install the shop channel.
Why would this process fail?

So i went to this tutorial:
Install cIOS36Rev7

This instructs me to Install cIOS36Rev7 and DVDx. However, this doesn't work and i am beginning to think it is b/c I didn't erase off the SD from the the first tutorial.

So my questions are:

1. After installing the HBC, what process do I need to follow so I can play back up discs?
2.Will the process I tried in this tutorial - Mod your 4.0 Wii to play back ups, install homebrew, and load from usb, all without a mod chip! prevent me from doing something
2. Does the SD card always have to be erased before using again?

You don't need to wipe your card, only if the instructions specifically ask you to then you should....

Try this guide, it is very simple and quick, once you have done it all you will need to do is install a backup loader. lmk how you get on.

Thanks for you help, but/.......

Thank you very much for your help. I was able to get to follow your instructions and I got to the back up launcher part involving cIOS36 Rev7. I found a tutorial by deesnider or someone explaining how set it up. Hoever I get error messages in this process For the DVDx installer I need to select IOS 249 but it isn't even an option.

I also get this error message when installing cIOS36 Rev7:
Installing custom IOS, please wait.......
installing ticket......ERROR (ret = -2011)
Custom IOS installed successfully.

Any ideas what this could mean?

Also when i follow these instructions my Wii which is only suppose to go black for 10 secs never comesw back up:

7: Now put card back in, restart your wii ,start HBC, press home then run Bootmii.

8: The screen will be black for 10 seconds then Wad manager will run.

9: Select uninstall first then install IOS249.wad.

10: Go to HB channel and run cIOS38_rev13b-Installer.

11: Go to HB channel and run IOS downgrader.

sounds like you've been doing an old tutorial m8, 2011 means you have no vulnerable ios to install stuff, try this guide instead and forget about dvdx, it's not needed.

Thanks for getting back to me. That guide was your suggestion on the last post and I did that. If I recall correctly - everything is a blur at this point - that that did work. It's the backup loader that is becoming an issue. I will retry your suggestion and do the back up loader. How do i know this is successful.
And I assume I will have to download a back up loader after this is done b/c I believe I need gamma to play the games. What if the back up loader doesn't work?
