this is a great thread, thanks alot for this. Its obviously workin for everyone so i must be doing somthing wrong.
I am doing a friends wii for him, which he has recently updated from i think 3.4 to 4.0e
It was never hacked before the update so will this guide still work?
because when i copy cotents of sd1 onto my card, go to data managment, channels, sd, it just has a question mark in the first block of the sd.
I dnt get no message saying load boot.elf.
even tho the boot.elf an private folder are in the root of my clean sd card.
I tried both fat an fat32 because wasnt sure which to use.
but both had the same result
anyone know what im doing wrong?
    it would be much appriciated
    cheers louis

116 is no network...are you connected to internet? If you still have probs copy IOS38 to the root of your sd card and do a wad install

cheers dogeggs changing from my mates sd card to my sandisk worked.
Everything was goin smooth until i ran the downgrader, i was gna follow ur guide to go back to 3.2e, but i didnt get the option, when i clicked the downgrader it didnt ask me which version i wanted it just connected then started runin for about 3 minutes, i think it was downgrading things like. then said it was finished and press any button to restart, so i did.

But am still on 4.0, an with you warning not to run the downgrader more than once am not sure what to do.

louis - sounds like you ran the ios downgrader? it doesnt downgrade your sys menu, just the ios....and it doesn't hurt to downgrade them twice, it just a waste of time, you need to run cios downgrade 1.2 to downgrade your sys menu make sure you pick the right region!

Ok so I finally managed to get Homebrew and Bootmii installed using this guide, only problem I have now is when i go into Bootmii and load manager to install IOS249.wad i still get the ret error 1022.

I'm sure my Wii hates me and is doing this on purpose lol
