I dunno, it's so poor of resolution compared to that of the PC that I don't bother (I tested it and went "yawn"). Remember those other channels "insist" on WiConnect24 like the weather and news channel... I leave it disable and skip those... again I got a PC and broadband, not really my thing on the Wii...

Have a recently bought wii, although it is LU38 and 3.4U. Should I still use this to try and install HBC/PreLoader/Etc?

    HI there

Neogamma allows loading from DVD, SD and USB. Can I use Neogamma to load from my USB hard drive or do I need to install USB Loader GX?

I dont want to fill up my Wii's memory with loads of clutter.

    Thanks
    Baby

This step is optional unless you are on 3.1, 3.3 or 3.4 in which case you must update, if you are on 3.2 or 4.0 you can update if you want and it is recommended that you do, if you are on 4.1 there is no need obviously! If you are on 3.1 you will have to update to 4.0 first, make sure you install the patched IOS60 first though still. Before you update to 4.1 make sure you have at least 250 blocks free or you will brick, install IOS60-patched first with Wad Manager using IOS249, then run Firmware Updater 4.1. If you are on 3.3 or 3.4 then you must update now - DO NOT install priiloader until you have updated as it will cause untold problems!.

I would suggest you change this section [for clairity], as it is very confusing for someone who's not dealt with the Wii before. It should be broken down into instructions based on your system menu version, then into simple & obvious steps (for every simple thing) since there's such a large warning attached. I spend 20 minutes searching & searching to fully understand all the instructions.

The way it's writen I was not sure *how* to install via wad manager, let alone "using IOS249". I know it's very simple when you've done it once, but IMO it should be pulled apart like the rest of the guide - ESPECIALLY since it carries such a warning.

Other than that, great guide! Thanks a lot!

Yeah i tried that. Like i said, i got 1 game on my Hard Drive, but that was from the original disk. I want to put downloaded .iso files onto the hard drive, but when i load WBFS Manager 3.0 i get an error.

Is there any other ways to get the .iso onto the hard drive?

If it's a Wii (check, it's a Wii) and it's between 3.1 and 4.1 (check, it's a 3.4) then yes you can do this mod. Obviously follow it to the letter -- ie Priiloader isn't compatible with 3.4, hence Step 4 says update to 4.1 (all software included to do so; an active internet connection is required). Post #1 on page #1 is regularly updated --- both the attached software to the post, and the Tutorial (when needed) as well.

Is there any reason I should Install Patched IOS60 at all?

    Thanks,
    Nightstah,

Can you please answer my previous post and this one as well. Do you know if a system menu update from Nintendo can update the Boot versions. My friend have an older wii below 3.1. If he use a original disc update do you know it that will update his boot version. I believe the newer wii's have boot version that can't install BootMii as Boot 2 but only as IOS.

    Thanks in advance.

You are really talking about two different things. Wiis made up to two years ago or so had a security hole in their firmware where BootMii could be inserted into boot2. A successful install in such a case pretty much is the gold standard in terms if a full brick, you should be able to recover.

Edit: it was a hardware level bug... a software update like a System Menu bump doesn't close it if that's what you meant.

Now Wiis older than 3.1 in terms of System Menu and IOS associated can be updated via a game disc from that Wii's region (if USA, a US version of a game; if EU, then an E, and so forth). This is pretty much about the only time you'll see someone encourage a disc update on this thread --- the goal is to get it updated between 3.1 and 4.1 so that this mod may be performed. To get an idea what disc may have what system menu and IOS (a disc can have one or the other, or both), check here.

Edit: among other things, IOS 60 patched allows for game wads to be ran off of SD card... look here for more back and forth on the benefits of patched IOS 60.
