I'm willing to do anything but the problem is "if you have a LU64+, do not downgrade". Since a downgrade has been attempted, I'm scared to try the "virgin" process or the wiihacks tutorial for modding 3.1 to 4.1. As I had said, it's a friends wii so I'll have to wait to see. Thanks again for your help.
I've a vague sense of the Dummies tutorial (as it's called, of course). It was the last part of your original statement about "wising up" and doing HBC and BootMii which seemed suggestive of abandoning one mod "in the middle" for having started another. Your best bet is await Gen3SF, she is of superior mind and knowledge to most who frequent this forum (there are others, but they pop in less often). Use this time to form a coherent "here's exactly what I did and to this point, and this is exactly what it does or doesn't do" history or rundown for her --- it'll present more information from you upfront so that she may give better advice.

Good luck and keep at it,

Thanks Nightstah. What should I do to get Gen3SF to look into my problem? Wait until she comes online? Start a new thread? Send her a PM? I will collect my thoughts and put together a step by step of what I have done, but how do I get her to notice it? Sorry for taking up so much of your time. Thanks again.

I would start with clicking the "Quote Reply" rather than quick reply. It'll let you put a subject in your response to say, this one --- Like "Help! Can Gen3SF or Someone Help Me w/My Wii?" type heading. Then essentially give a rundown of what you've done and the results so far. Essentially that you want to "fix" it and follow the current Tutorial. I'd not PM her right off...

Error or step 3D -Run cIOS38 r14 installer, select IOS36

I try to leave a new message since I cannot found what I need to solve this issue. I cannot complete this step (Error or step 3D -Run cIOS38 r14 installer, select IOS36 )

I've an ret -1035 error, then I follow the link in the error post but it tell me exactly the same.

    Someone have an idea ?

Redo Steps 3A-3C, something went wrong there. Realize you must use the dpad to both change the default IOS that comes up, along with the default value that comes up (the Tutorial says use a different IOS and a different value). Also when you get to the step about clicking "A," make sure you do all three times and not a "B" by mistake (which backs you out of that step, like an escape).

Thanks Nightstah, you've been a big help.

This is the trouble I'm in. First off, I did not follow the guide on wiihacks, and most of this post has been repeated in some of my other posts. I followed another softmod package called "softmodding for dummies 4.1". Didn't realize it wasn't updated to work with LU70 serial numbers.
I've followed these steps. 1. Turn off wiiconnect. 2. Set up wireless connection for wii. 3. Format fat16 and copy files to 2Gig SD card. 4. Launch bannerbomb. Guide reads "if firmware is 4.0 or above must downgrade". 5. Launch loadmii and choose downgrade IOS35.dol. It connects to internet and begins downgrade process. This is where it starts to get dodgey. Not sure if downgrade was completed or not but it goes back to loadmii. The downgrade did something because now when I put NSMB (original) it prompts me to update. (I didn't. Other original games like "crash of the titans" and "raving rabbits tv party" work in the wii.) System menu states 4.1U. I then exit loadmii as instructed. 6. Launch wadbatchinstaller.dol. Then it reads "The installer will check if IOS16 and CIOS249 are already installed. If not, it will ask you to install it. Press A to launch the installation." I pressed the "A" button and it reads "installing IOS16, please wait." It fails with a error 1035 and doesn't try to install IOS249. This is when I stopped and did some research. Unfortunately, I found out that this wasn't going to work, and I'm not sure what to do. I wised up and installed bootmii as IOS and did nand backup. The homebrew channel is installed. I've read over 400 pages on different forums but haven't found the right answer. I am a noob but I have sucessfully softmodded two 3.4U a year ago using an older revision of "softmodding for dummies". I have a little experience, but as the title of the softmod package suggests, I am not an expert, barely a novice and this is well beyond my knowledge. I've had suggestions to use anytitledeleter to remove IOS249 and reinstall it. Install cIOS38 rev14. Trucha bug restore. Virginized wii tutorial. Waninkoko firmware updater. Pimpmywii. But what to do and what order to do it in is a mystery. There must be someone else out there who have tried to downgrade a LU70. Sorry for the long post. If anyone thinks they can help, I would really appreciate it!

    - Yesterday I installed "TV Show King 2.wad" and It's working fine

Edit: I followed step by step this guide ("New 3.1-4.1 Softmode for ANY Wii")
The "Backup Launcher Channel" appeared after following this guide ( I guess it's Neogamma channel). Before following this guide I wasn't able to load any .wad

Thanks a lot for your help!
You don't identify what version of the forwarder you're using for USB Loader GX - check this page and see if it's the same or newer version. If it's a newer version, you must use it in conjunction with the latest HBC-based (read: .dol file) of USB Loader GX as can be located here.

The NeoGamma you said is a channel-wad; did you try the HBC/.dol version? You can do a search here for the various versions that are available. Searching there will also provide a link for a NeoGamma forwarder for that app as well.

As stated, certains Wiis have recently surfaced that won't play via a bona fide channel install/wad, but do via HBC (and in the feedback seen thus far, forwarders seem to work as well). My NeoGamma channel if I hover the pointer over it says NeoGamma B8R7, not "Backup Channel." It's possible you and I are using two different wads, however. I'm presuming when you actually load this channel it in fact is only NeoGamma...

I am not for certain whether you said you were an "E" or "U" Wii user - you can always try the Internet Channel Update for US models here, or European version here.

Yes, but whatever you do, know this --- if you ever accidentally update to 4.2U on a cross-flashed Korean Wii, it will brick!!! It's unique to Korean models that have been cross-flashed. Do a search of this forum and you should turn up some posts (I think updating to 4.1U isn't a problem, but I cannot say 100% from memory). You can do the mod as-is and remain @ 4.0U and it won't be a problem if it's a worry - just skip the FW 4.1 update part/step 4 (but you still have to install IOS 60 patched).
