    USB Loader Error

Thanks a lot for an extemely well written tutorial that let this newbie get it installed. I think the biggest problem was sorting out an internet connection but that's another embarrassing story.

As my new chipset doesn't allow DVDR's I thought I'd install the USB Loader....hrmmm

I went to cios38r14 installer in HBC and navigated to the SD card which had the downloaded files for the USB Loader.

    SD Card Mount...OK

    ios38-64-v3610.wad ERROR! ret= -1

Uh ohhhh....please tell me I overlooked something really stupid???

Did you do the step outlined in red between step 4 and 5 (the install ios60 wad one) before attempting this? Did you configure your wireless internet correctly and have INTERNET = ON, WICONNECT = OFF? System Menu 3.1 if I read the tutorial right didn't have to have Preloader uninstalled prior to the update --- only 3.3 or 3.4 (I think you said 3.1, correct?)

I have followed the guide perfectly and I have a couple of questions:

    1. After installing HBC I cannot see any apps unless my SD card is in is that what is supposed to happen?

    2. I noticed in the video the neo gamma app installed as a channel. When I did the final step of my installation there was no neo gamma channel available on my wii menu. I did however have a ??? channel on my channel list in wii settings. How do I get the channel to appear on my wii menu?

    3. I also want to know what files exactly can I delete from the sd card after completing. I dont want to install the HBC twice :P

My wii is a New Zealand PAL with a Wii Key 2 modchip installed. It is system menu 4.0E
    1. If you don't have the SD card in the SD card slot, you'll only see the channel and bubbles. This is completely normal.

    2. The latest softpack on page 1 has NeoGamma R8B15 as an /app for Homebrew. The previous softpack had it as a wad which you install with wad manager and it'll be a channel. Search this thread, there are numerous posts for a link to the wad if that's what you wish (understandable, that's how I prefer it).

    3. Make sure you save your NAND backup and the key file on the SD card if you did step 2. Really day-to-day you'd need nothing off the card but wad manager is a good tool to keep available (just put the softpack on your PC and delete/format the card if you have no need for this; I'd not do that before you do what's in #2 above this #3 in response, however --- meaning install NG as a wad).

    any ideas.
When I used Priiloader on a 4.2 mod I did following the other thread (my significant other's cousin's wii) it'd boot to a corrupted HBC screen on a cold boot; warm boot it'd be OK. I didn't like Priiloader on either my 4.1 or his 4.2; did you try to set AUTOBOOT = System Menu and then SAVE? If you did and no luck, you can download whatever version System Menu you have active right now via NUS Downloader. If you can get to the HBC (try after a warm boot or if you can get in to the Wii menu) install it via wad manager and it'll overwrite Priiloader and you can try the other versions floating around (it is betaware after all). If this isn't possible, give Gen a shout and she could direct you further.

The most common error that accounts for this is not using a standard SD card of 2gb or less formatted as FAT32. MicroSD in SD adapter or SDHC aren't compatible. You can refer to this thread for error codes. The extract of that particular error code:

    -1:
SD/USB Loader Error Hardware not recognized. Most likely have a cIOS installed incorrectly, out of date, or missing. Possibly formatted the SD card or USB incorrectly, is unsupported, or not enough space.

    Q. I have formatted the device correctly and have cIOS 36 rev 8+ but I am still getting this error; how would i fix this?
    A. Be sure to have the device hooked up to the Wii before you power it on. You may lack USB support as well. Installing cIOS38rev14 would clear this up.

Thanks for the follow up....the SD card is a Sandisk 2 GB which is formatted for FAT32 so I've obviously fouled up somewhere else.

After I did the initial mod I removed the SD, deleted the files and then installed the USB loader files on so I could load the .wad file.

When I put the SD card in and went to the HBC the only options there were the two cios files (r14 and the hermes) and the usb loader. Should WAD manager and the rest of the ones be gone now?

As mentioned, i went into cios r14 and navigated to the sd card but it never exposed the wad file I needed to install as per the readme file with usb loader.

Wad manager was on the softpack you deleted, so it won't be there. You mentioned deleting the files and then apparently putting the USB loader files and wad on the SD card. I would format and put the softpack on it from page 1 along with copying the USB loader files onto it. If it's a wad only, you can put that in the /wads dir. If an app (which sounds not the case), you can put that in the /apps dir.

I Don't know if anyone already asked this but :

When I'm doing part 5 c), when I try to see the system menu hack it tells me that it couldn't find any hacks for the system menu v385
Is there any way to get those hacks?

Also, After the step 3) my HBC became inversed.... image is upside down and when I try to move my cursor to the left, it goes to the right same thing for going up, down or right. Any one know how to fix this?

EDIT : never mind about the inversed HBC. After the update it came back as normal.

That's the Priiloader screen. There is an option "AUTOBOOT" that can be set to HBC, System Menu, Priiloader. Select System Menu and then SAVE it so it'll default to that. Prior to that, you may want to enable certain hacks (block disc update, region free --- whatever floats your boat).
