What if you completed steps 3a-d before you noticed that you didn't say yes to "Nand permissions"--got a flipped and mirrored Home Brew Channel screen, and then took the advice you posted saying to repeat 3a-d (even though your advice assumed you only did 3c and not 3d the first time around), and it's still flipped. Should you continue with the guide (System 3.4u) and update to 4.1?

Trying to save a wii left by roomate

My roomate left his modded Japanese wii. It's been semi-bricked meaning I can't access the settings.

I tried to use this tutorial, and I get to the SD card page but there's no files there. I have the boot.elf file in the root of the SD card but it does not load or prompt me to load (even though I can't read Japanese it just doesn't do anything). It appears that there are now files on the SD card though I know that there are when I have the card plugged into my computer.

I'd like to save this thing, cuz I feel bad that no one ever used it. I think that it's saveable but I just don't know how to do it.

    Sonik:

YMMV (your mileage may vary). Some games are like this, a lot are still 1.5-2GB on average in my experience (60 games on 500gb HD = 118GB so far for me; where the average comes in that I speak of in my personal experience). I have some scrubbed and what not yet still a couple are about 4GB.

Now I'm trying to use the firmware updater 4.1, I click on it and load, it just says Initializing Network, please wait...and it's frozen there, no buttons on the wii remote respond and no buttons on the console respond I have to physically unplug the power from the console in order to get it to turn off. I have a wired internet connection, and the test connection in wii settings internet works. I have the wiiconnect24 turned off. what can I do to get the firmware updater 4.1 to work?
    Scoylesays:

You can do an offline update, depending on version (4.1E,U,K,J). Use NUS Downloader for the appropriate System Menu to be downloaded to your SD card on a PC or try on the Wii. Need more help from someone here, give a shout or search the forum thread (this has been addressed numerous times so should turn up without any trouble).

Pretty much beyond the scope of this Tutorial and better asked elsewhere. Bottom line: an alternative but one that replaces all IOS with custom versions. Some times causes problems; most "serious" users tend to shun it, but it's a matter of personal choice. There is no "wrong" choice, but mixing this mod with that can have unpredictable issues.

Reinstall HBC, it'll right the screen. I'm a little confused on the other... at first you say you can't get out of Priiloader and then you say it reboots games when you quit. That's contradictory; could you elaborate, please? Some of the resetting is normal once the mod is in place; also, on Priiloader you need to select Autoboot: System Menu or HBC and select SAVE.

First, thanks for this guide, it will help a lot of people on doing homebrew; but i dont want to start doing the job for a few reasons, wish someone help me on it.

1- I Already have homebrew channel installed, also i actualized it yesterday (i dont know what version has now)

2- A few months ago i installed bootmii and saved on my computer the files that the program created on my SD Card, but i lost them. Is there a solution to this?

If this can help, i have menu version 3.4 .

    THANKS
Start on Step 3. As for your other issue, I'm not sure I understand. If BootMii is still installed and you lost the NAND backup, the only real option is to make a current NAND backup and store it somewhere safe (did BootMii install as IOS or Boot2?) You can reinstall it if it's no longer on your Wii, just start at Step 2. You can select install/uninstall from there on the screen. Also, since you have System Menu 3.4, if you do update the System Menu to 4.1 make sure you Step 5A before the update and before the installation of Priiloader.
