Plugging my usb in to power (not the wii usb) is the only way to get it to work. Perhaps this is just an issue with my hard drive. Does anybody know of 500GB USB HDDs that turn on and off with the Wii successfully. I am aware of the guide on USB loaders website (but according to that mine should work) so id like to hear if anybody else has one they know works.

The only other issue is that I have the Wii set to boot to USB loader GX, but when it comes on its not wide screen. I have to exit USB loader GX and then go back into it to get it to be wide screen. Has anybody else experience that?

    Thanks guys!
Did you change the 16:9 screen setting in USB Loader GX global settings and then Save the Configuration?

Also would this fix the photo channel? and work ok on 4.1E (updated from 3.4E using the softmod 3.2-4.1 tutorial)

    Thank you so much!

Edit - have tried putting in the root of my sd card and going to the channel but nothing is visible?
Yes, it will work on your updated 4.1 Wii. Here is a link to ShadowSonics thread on installing the updated Shop Channel and IOS61: http://www.wiihacks.com/homebrew-dow...installer.html.

For future reference, after extracting a rar file with WinRar, if the file is a .wad then one uses Wad Manager to install it. A file with .dol is a Homebrew application and should be placed in a folder with the application name and the .dol file renamed to boot.dol so HBC can see and display the app. Good luck.

So 4.1 provides more supports. Thanks for your kind explanation!

    Ok, noted.

How silly me, guess I didn't read properly. So I guess I just keep whatever tools/files I needed to run under HomeBrew Channel. E.g. USB Loader GX

May I know who specialised in USB Loader? I'd like to know do I need to install Hermes cIOS222 rev4?

gen3sf, thanks for your helps and explanation!!!

P/s: Oops forgot to ask this, from Step 5 of the installation guides, it mentioned about Starfall (3.2). Is it it's one of the wad files under Step 5 (d)?
If you install Preloader, do not also install Starfall or StartPatch-all the apps install prior to the boot of system menu and use a hacks file to set up the various protections you want-choose only one of these to avoid conflicting loadup and hack file conflicts. Only Preloader is including in this tutorial-for Starfall you will have to search for it. If you are using HBC 1.0.6, make sure Starfall has been updated for the HBC 's new Title ID.

Go here for your installation of HermesIOS:http://www.wiihacks.com/wii-custom-s...os-v4-out.html . USB Loader GX automatically allows you to select the IOS to be used 249, 222 or 223.

Use preloader to gain access to HBC. Use Wad Manager and NOW install IOS60patched. It is located in the file line labeled WAD. Now return to HBC and run the FW4.1updater again-make sure your Wii's Internet access is ON and WiiConnect24 if Off or you will be updated to 4.2: Internet ON; WiiConnect24 OFF.

Now resume the tutorial again at Step 5B-the reinstall of the system menu will overwrite preloader so you need to reinstall it. Continue Steps 5B-D.

Here is the link for cIOSCORP 3.5 read the information very carefully to see what is needed to install it on your Wii. I don't remember what was done so far on your Wii-so make sure and read the cIOSCORP info to ensure a clean install for you. Post your situation in that forum-if you stay with cIOSCORP, remember to use cIOSCORP forums for your questions and changes. You don't have a Wii, you have a cIOSCORP Wii-very important to tell folks that in a non-cIOSCORP forum area-OK? Glad enough clues finally came out to suspect your Wii had cIOSCORP installed. Good Luck.

If you are already on 4.1, the FW4.1 might not work-we do need to reinstall your sysmenu version though. You have a typo in the crucial location-are you on 4.1E (European Wii)? I will provide the link for offline install as FW4.1 might not do it for you.

For 4.1E: download sysmenuPAL450 from here SystemMenu-PAL-v450.rar . Use WinRar to extract the wad file; copy to the SD card and install using Wad Manager.

If your typo was severe and you are really on 4.1U (US) use this:SystemMenu-NTSCU-v449.rar . The file in this case is systemmenuNTSCU449.

    1. Download SystemMenuPAL450.rar. Use WinRar to extract the Wad file. Copy the sysmenuPAL450.wad to your SD card.

    2. Use preloader to access HBC. Select Wad Manager, keep at default settings of IOS249 and SD card slot. Choose the WAD line-it will open and you will see IOS60patched[-choose it and install.

    3. Back out to Wad Mgr menu-choose sysmenuPAL450 and install

    4. Resume tutorial at Step 5B
