    1. You need to complete Step 3, without a cIOS, no loader whether a backup or USB loader will work

    2. You asked how to ID your sysmenu version, I provided the answer in my post 4885 and you have not provided that ID. However, as you were able to install bootmii as boot2, I presume your Wii is 3.2 or earlier. This is superior brick protection to preloader. Keep your NAND backup safe.

    3. Preloader is an optional install for you, but you do need to do Step 5D-the IOS install part. It will not hurt to also install NeoGamma, but that is optional for you. The IOS install part of Step 5D is to install the IOSes that many of the games use to load and play.

    4. NOW you may download USB Loader GX and WBFS Manager and follow this tutorial to get your HDD set up:<link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5Cmpq%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtm %20%20l1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <wontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {colorurple; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs-guides-tutorials-only/27305-loading-playing-wii-backup-games-usb-hdd.html
    Hi Gen3sf and dr34

I have version 3.1U, and follow the instruction and finish it all the way through 5D with NeoGamma install.

I did dlownload the USB Loadger GX and WBSF Manager, but which one should I install since there are two of them in the wad folder

    USB Loader GX r807 - ULNR.wad
    USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad

I would like to install USB Loader as a "wii channels"?

one again, thanks for all your help.

    Thanks

    Ben

    Downgrades

Hey, I've been reading that LU64 users can't downgrade anything.is that information correct(meaning that I can't downgrade IOS either, making this guide useless to me), or wrong(meaning I just can't downgrade the system menu, IOS are fine)?

@irish: remove Private and boot.elf from the SD card. After you completed the softmod, you really don't need any of the files-you might want to keep Wad Manager in the Apps folder and also keep an empty Wad folder for future use. See NSMB guide in games forum

@bconfessor - downgrade refers to FW, IOS downgrade step is fine. Please follow the tutorial as written.

    Hi Evilmop

You don't have to be online to softmod the wii, the reason you have to be online because if you want to upgrade to 4.1, but there is an alternative solution you can down load it and run the upgrade off line, but it will depend on what version do you have right now.

I just mod my wii with off line, and everything when successfully, read the instruction carefully step-by-step before doing it.

    Cheers

    Ben

@ben - congrats. Use the UNLR Wad for just a channel version of USB Loader GX. A forwarder also installs as a channel but required the app to be in the app folder-a forwarder points to the app location.

@josh-there's a lot of posts in this thread about that. Reinstall HBC.

@Evil-only the FW4.1updater requires Internet access. You can install 4.1 system menu offline if your Wii has no Internet access. After you install IOS60patched,
If Wii is US: install sysmenu 4.1U using Wad Mgr. Here is the link to sysmenu 4.1U: SystemMenu-NTSCU-v449.rar.
If your Wii is European (PAL): use this link:SystemMenu-PAL-v450.rar

    Resume tutorial at Step 5B.
