after reset / format the wii, i am be able to complete Softmod my wii (step 1-5) and update the version from 3.4 to 4.1

Do I need to keep the SD card with all the software in there or I can remove the software now?

What is the next step? I have a hard drive loading with wii game (under ciso from WBFS) and connected to my wii. I am don't know how to load those games from USB.

    Thanks

I reformatted, copied the files back to the SD card and tried again with the same result.

I want to make sure that I'm telling the whole story ...

I first tried to hack with this method and couldn't get past the last part of step one. If I recall correctly, I was getting the same error (ret=-1) there.
I then tired one that involved using the IOS Downgrader. I could never get the IOS Downgrader to work because of the error (ret=-1).
I then found this tutorial and everything worked except the Firmware Updater 4.1.

I could be wrong, but it looked like that whenever the apps are trying to download from the internet, it's not working which is why I tried so many different ways (wireless security on/off, Wii Connect 24 on/off, etc.). Other internet functions on the Wii work fine.

I have followed the New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii instructions to the letter and I still get frozen at the BLACK "if you paid for this ....... etc screen. Running 4.1E - frustrating that is for sure.

Ok Gen, I have the WFSB thing installed. So, when I get the HDD, should I just create one partition as NTFS for the .isos since they are all greater than 4Gb? What would I need a FAT32 partition for anyways?

Depends on how you plan to use that HDD. If you want to have the option of copying ISO's to that HDD and transfer to the WBFS partition, then yes, do create an NTFS-formatted partition.

Your error code refers to some problem with the wad files or the SD card. As you have already reformatted that SD card-try another card. Ideal is a SanDisk 2GB SD, not mini/micros, no SDHC, format as either FAT32 from a PC or use the link provided in the softmod tutorial to format as FAT.

Click on the link in Step 1a (located at the word "this") to make sure your SD card files are in right place.
