Be very careful with AnyTitleDeleter-as you will recall, deleting any IOS under the value of 200 will brick your Wii-look at the screen messages carefully and only delete IOS249.

Do you need a link to a version of AnyTitleDeleter?
I removed IOS249 using AnyTitleDeleter the reran cIOS38rev14 install but I still cannot start the NeoGamma channel. I just get a black screen when I start it.

Which IOS should preloader be set to use under "Settings/System Menu IOS"? Is it even relevant, or do I not need to worry about this setting?

I know about Hermes instalation with IOS 222 for its compatibility to many USB instruments. The reason I'm not using that (IOS 222) is my wii still using disc loader instead of USB loader (coz i'm not having any Harddisk external yet) and i read gamma loader is not capable to switching IOS from 249 to 222.

I'm not aware if cioscorp is using hermes installation. But after installing cioscorp, i tried to load American Idol through gamma, and my mic still not working though

Just curiousity here, and curiousity also that make me bricking my wii yesterday, and solving it today Still i will appreciate someone that help me answer my curiousity here about non working mic through gamma loader. I wonder if maybe the previous IOS rev is more capable of handling the mic ports instead of new one. Because maybe the seller (i lived in Indonesia, and i buy wii with softmodded already) use the old custom IOS files.

    thanks

I can't tell from the complaints if this is a true observation though. USB Loader GX does allow you to choose whether you'd like to use IOS222 or IOS249 to load games. I can't figure out what has gone wrong with this softmod. As I recall, you did successfully backup your NAND as boot2. You can either opt to restore your Wii to its pre-softmod state or you can wait until someone more knowledgeable than I can identify the needed fix or ask the one right question. I'm sorry I wasn't able to help you fix your Wii.

If you are referring to my response to mamozkay, you will use IOS249 for the majority of games. IOS222 would be your choice for games using instruments and microphones such as Rock Band, and the more recent Guitar Hero versions.

Good to know. I wont be playing any of those. I plan on only playing games that use the regular controller, WiiWare, and VC games.

gen3sf - Thanks for your assistance and time.

I did backup the NAND as boot2, so I think i'll restore and restart the mod.

One final question - If I restore that NAND will it basically restore the Wii as if I've never messed with it (i.e. back to 3.1E system menu, with none of the extra IOS's i've installed) or will some of the things i've installed during this process remain?

Yes, the NAND backup restores your Wii to what it looked like at the time you made the backup. Now, if you did some mods prior to the NAND backup, those will still be there. The NAND backup restores your Wii to pre-Step 3.

Great, thats perfect. Thanks for all your effort and fast replies. I do have another final question.......

When I did the (now failed) softmod first time around I carried out the step to install IOS60Patched before upgrading to 4.1, but I found the wording at the start of the line a little confusing and want to confirm that I should carry out that step when my system is still on 3.1 system menu?

I wont get the chance to do any of this until tomorrow so I'll check back to see if anyone else has suggestions before I restore the NAND tomorrow evening.

Benwii: make sure to read thru the tutorial very carefully tomorrow as we were not able to identify what went wrong. You did not appear to have cIOS38rev14 installed as IOS249-that should have occurred after Step 3d.

    Step 4: <link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5Cmpq%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtm l1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <wontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->If you want to update to 4.1 (from 3.1) then make sure you have at least 250 blocks free or you will brick [You can check your memory blocks by going to Wii Settings: Data Mgt>Channels -then see space listed as Blocks Open.]
-install IOS60-patched first - then run Firmware Updater 4.1
-because you did Step 4 you are to skip Step 5a

    follow Step 5b, c, d

    Better luck tomorrow. Good night.
