    Thanks messie,

I will certainly be searching through the posts for alternate dols and error #002. Given the simplicity of this guide I was hoping for a similar how to regarding the #002 error, or even better, a setting to change for these games. Anyone, please feel free to point me in the right direction. Sometimes it's hard to sort the good advice from the bad when searching for this stuff. Cheers.

And I found that Iomega 1TB Prestige Desktop Hard Drive USB 2.0, which I have, works with USB Loader. The article says that I have to divide the disk in two partitions since Wii's limit is 500GB. Can I only format one partition as FAT32 and leave the other one as NTFS? Or do I have to format both of them as FAT32?

It also says this on the Iomega 1TB line: "Works perfectly with rev14". What is rev14? Does it come with USB Loader?

    Thank you for the support
I'm not sure of the partition size limit, I have 2 WD 1TB HDDs that both work on the Wii (I use 1 as a backup in case of hard disk crash)-I have the 1TB My Book Essential, and the 1 TB Elements; both have WBFS-formatted partitions in excess of 500GB. Your choice on what you want to try though.

With regard to your non-WBFS partition-if you plan on copying ISOs onto that partition, you will need NTFS (>4GB size files).

rev14 is shorthand for cIOS38rev14. This, as you can read in the softmod tutorial, will be installed as part of this step-by-step tutorial (Step 3d).

Speaking of setting changes-you did try the 002 menu settings in USB Loader GX, right?

So I need to have a NTFS partition and then make a WBFS partition on it, to load ISOs with USB Loader?

<looking sheepish> No. </looking sheepish> I will look for it tonight. If it is that easy... I'll be a very happy guy. If it doesn't work, should I be looking at bailli's Generic Wii Patcher 1.2 with trucha signer or some other tools. Thanks gen3sf.

Your HDD will probably come already formatted for "plug and play" compatibility with a PC. Instructions for WinXP:
    1. Plug your new USB HDD into PC
    2. Right click on My Computer
    3. Go to Manage
    4.Click on Disk Management
5.With your disk drive loaded and visible: right click on new HDD and choose delete volume
    6. Right click on new HDD in lower part or graphical portion of window and click New
    7. A drive letter should be assigned to your new drive-choose NOT TO FORMAT when you create your new partition [note that you can choose size of partition-you can leave some for FAT32 or NTFS in a later step]
    8.Run WBFS Manager 3
    9. Select your new drive letter and click Format.

[You can either use WBFS Manager or go back to your PC to format the non-WBFS partition if you chose to create one-your choice on format. However, just remember than FAT32 cannot handle files >4GB, NTFS is required for that and ISOs and movies are often larger than 4GB]

Not sure why pre-loader isn't working.

I went through every step without problem, but I'm having some issues with preloader specifically 5b/c step. When I try to install, it doesn't say to press 1. I press 1 a few times, then it installs, but it can't access SD card at all. Any suggestions? Thanks!

So, after you pressed "1" preloader was installed and you see the preloader menu-correct?

Where you are stuck is the step in which you wish to select system hacks. If this is correct, then your SD card is not being read by preloader. It is fussy-try a SanDisk 2GB SD (not micro/mini/or SDHC) formatted as FAT32. Formatting the SD will delete your files. After formatting copy your files back to SD and reboot your Wii while holding down the reset button. The preloader menu should load, try the selecting the system hacks again.

I am having the issue now tho I cannot seem to run Wii Sports Resort. I remember when i hacked my other wii, that I needed to update i think a ios file, is that correct?
By following this tutorial, the needed IOSes were installed. Try playing with the oo2/anti 002 settings in your loader whether you are using Neogamma or USB Loader GX. WSR is one of those games that causes problems for a number of even perfectly softmodded Wii, such as yours. 4.1 Wii freezing reading SD card

My roommate has a Wii with the 4.1 firmware installed, It has never had homebrew or anything else on it other than games he has purchased. I have formatted the SD card using the utility recommended in this post. Also it is a Sandisk 2gig card for the Wii so there should not be any compatibility issues. Everything is located on the root of the card as well. The problem comes when we put the SD card in the Wii it freezes up when we try to access it. You can get to the SD card if you go through the data managment screen but you can't see anything on the card. I also looked at the serial number on the Wii and its not 64+ although I'm not sure if that is even a factor in this problem. I have tried searching for known issues concerning the Wii freezing but havent been able to find any helpful information. Anyone have any suggestions?
