Just Dance 2 is my major pain, we only buy original games but back them up for saftey. The original doesn't work on our machine, but works on my friends newer Wii so I know the actual disc is fine. Anyway after trying loads of different things, I thought I may as well get the most recent software(?) so at least our original will play, I'm not trying to update system menu, just all the revisions of softmod.
With regards to the thread about Updating softmod, it says that it isn't to be used if I used Dogeggs' Softmod from a few years back, so wanted to know if this one is safe to just overwrite everything I already have
I realize you must get a lot of lazy people just asking for answers, but I have tried searching and just want to be 100% certain.
Thanks again for your time, and sorry if I am being very dim.

If you install IOS56 and 57 the original should work from disc channel (I don't know what IOS it uses....just a guess).
If you load the game from Cfg USB loader with cIOS 222, 223 or 224 then it should work fine. I recommend following the softmod any wii guide if you want to get the latest cIOS and install anything you might not have.
It's safe to follow with your wii as is.

Installed bootmii as boot2 but I lost the SD card that I used to install it. What can I do to boot to bootmii screen? I still have my nand and key files from modded.

Quick Question: After following the softmod 3.1-4.1 guide which directories can i remove from my SDcard? basically whenever i goto data management > Channels > SD Card it keeps popping up with the "Load boot.elf?" message. When i renamed to something like boot.elf_bak it completely freezes on that screen.
I'm asking this because i need to free up some nand memory(?) so copied some VC games like OoT to my SD Card but when trying to load the channels on the card it freezes.
atm i have many directories in the root of my SD Card including the USB Loader directories. Is it safe to just remove all directories except the USB Loader dir's? I assume i will also need to keep my Wad and apps directories? what about root files, should i remove boot.elf?
btw, Thanks for the great tutorial successfully upgraded from 4.0e to 4.1e and got USB Loader GX working... wow thats much better than using disks to make too many coasters.

Yes remove everything that you aren't using (leave the apps you use) yes you can remove boot.elf yes remove ALL the wad files from the wad folder.

Make sure you have a 2GB or less SD card not SDHC. Full format to FAT32, files back on the card...try again.

Run the hackmii installer and select prepare SD card...it will create the needed files on your card to launch bootmii.

Hi Fu185001 I was a previous user of neogamma too but this week upgraded from 4.0e to 4.1e to add the latest ISO etc for better compatibility with games etc. In the process i decided to go the full mile and also give USB Loader a try.
Previously i had many issues with neogamma + DVD loading. After using an External USB drive & USB Loader GX i find it far more reliable. If you have a spare External HDD give this guide a go.. no more difficult to follow than the 3.x - 4.1 guide IMO. I also noticed that USB Loader GX (atleast compared to my previous setup) seems to handle any version of game ISO i try NTSC, PAL etc i found neogammer + DVD Loader far more particular. Anyway my 2cents
