I've been messing around some more and have come to the conclusion that my messed up dvd drive is whats giving me problems, at least I think. Without the dvd drive hooked up at all it takes about 45 seconds of black screen to get disc error. The same if the dvd drive is hooked all the way up. But, if I hook up just the ribbon to the dvd drive the error pops up almost immediately. Seems like its still trying to check the dvd drive for the disc even tho light on HD flashes as it is being read from. Tryed in usb loader gx, Neogamma, and uloader. Any more advice? Thanks and sorry to keep bugging you.

    IOS70patched.wad

    Code:
Should IOS70patched.wad be installed under the 4.1 hack? Its part of the 4.2 hack but not as this one. Is it needed?

System Menu 4.1 uses IOS60 which is why it is stated in this guide that IOS60patched MUST be installed prior to running the FW4.1 Updated. System Menu 4.2 uses IOS70.

Not really sure if maybe your friend shorted out the circuit or damaged something else. I take it that neither NeoGamma nor any USB Loaders will recognize that WD 500GB HDD independent of that Wii DrIve being connected or not. If that is the case, it sounds like more than just the Wii Drive itself has been physically damaged at least from your description over the past few posts. That could have occurred when your friend was trying to insert the modchip, the physical nature of jamming and unjamming discs, or removal of the Wii Drive..cannot diagnose the nature or extent of physical damage to the drive and/or motherboard. Sorry about your Wii.

Thanks Krank for reply, I have two last questions I would like to ask before I do the guide. 1. Can I play my normal bought games after I softmod my wii 2. Can I make a NAND backup anytime after I've done this guide. I hope I'm not being too noobish about this but I wanna just make sure I do it right. Thanks

    1. Yes of course.
    2. Yes you can make a backup anytime you like....but you should make one when the guide tells you too.

Well thanks for everyones help. I'm gonna look into trying to pick up a used wii from somewhere beings I've tried all I can try. Far as the dvd on the wii, put it this way, three pins on one of the chips on the dvd drive were basically almost soldered together , needless to say, my friend isn't touching my electronics again. Thanks for everyones help.
