And thank you guys for the great tutorial...
Black Wiis are more likely to have D3-2, if that's the case you'll need to load your backups with a HDD.

You NEED IOS60 patched installed prior to updating to 4.1 or your wii will brick.

Thanks for the answer richardsito... I have some other questions... By the way, my system version is 4.1E...

    1. The only way I could install Bootmii is as an IOS... Does the NAND backup work in this case too or not ?

    2. Can I update the shop version now without updating my system firmware too ?

    3. For playing backup games from an external hdd do I need some specific hdd like it was the case for the sd card or any hdd will be fine ?

    Thanks

Does it mean if I mess up something I won't be able to fix it up ?

Also, is there something now that prevents the system from updating ?

    Download help

OK, I've done almost everything in the original post (tried the upgrade to 4.1 bu the install failed, so I'll stick to 3.2 for the moment)

I've tried to download the cIOScorp 3.6, but the download fails, can someone post a link where I can download this?

    Thanks

You can fix it if you have priiloader, priiloader will also block disc and online updates.

    1. Yes! Make the NAND backup with bootmii IOS. You just can't restore it with bootmii (It is still useful!)

    3. Yes. Check the compatibility list in the USB HDD Guide.

Yes the backup can still be useful. Do not lose your nand.bin or keys.bin. Also as mentioned, install priiloader.

Why not avoid cIOSCORP and Load your backups with Neogamma or a USB Loader?

I recently got a used Wii from a friend. It has V3.4. After some research, I read the "New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii" tutorial and followed all the described steps successfully completing Steps 1-3.

When I got to Step 4, trying to update my menu version, I was able to install IOS60-patched however when trying to update the firmware using "Firmware Updater v4.1" I'm getting the following error message:

[+] Initializing network, please wait... ERROR! (ret = -116)
    Press any button to restart...

I though it was a problem with my internet connection but it appears to be working fine. I also did a connection diagnostic and it was successful.

I will appreciate any help you can give me.

    Joshua:.
This can happen if you are downloading something else. Right now, pause or stop any downloads. ALSO, make sure you have Connected the WII via internet options
