you are correct. The power, reset, and eject console buttons only work if you are able to use boot2. As you are forced to install as IOS, a game controller is need should you wish to perform a NAND backup. This is a known bootmii bug and has been discussed in this thread on several occasions. Bootmii is still a beta app; that is why even installing as IOS is recommended as it is hoped that future bootmii versions will improve the restore NAND procedures.

Finally, it works. I didn't have any problems with the tutorial. The only problem I had was to install my Wifi Max and after 1 hour (after several reboots) it worked (I needed that to install Firmware 4.1).
This tutorial is absolutely fantastic. The description is great and the steps are clear. I haven't tried to copy my Wii-games on an USB-stick/HDD or a computer. But i've downloaded Wii Sports (Which isn't illegal, because everyone has that game). I wanted to know if it worked and it worked.
So yeah, I'm a happy man .

I'm also pretty new to the Wii-homebrew-scene. But my best guess in this one is, don't remove your SD-card and you must control the BootMii menu with the power and reset button. The wii-motes won't work there, but you've done it before, so you would know .

which step did this happen on exactly?? you should be able to boot up (that is turn the wii on) while holding the reset button. In this case you boot with preloader. Help me out to unsderstand what is going on and i ll try to help you fix it. Fair deal isn't it? just give some details

Thanks, this guide worked perfectly. I upgraded from 3.4 to 4.1, and then reinstalled everything using this guide ... I've read about many bricks using Waninkoko's updater, so I installed the official update and then used this guide to get everything working again as it used to.

i have now managed to run TBR up to the run DOP-IOSv7 part. As my wii is not connected to net, i have downloaded NUS downloader but it will not open on my pc. i get the error msg....
"the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). click on ok to terminate the application".
upon double checking my folders i have the wad files required but when trying to run DOP-IOS it says cannot find on card checking the internet then initializing network....

can't get upgraded to 4.1u!
Hey, looks like a great post! All goes well until I go to upgrade my firmware to 4.1 it looks like it's working until I get the message Installing System Menu 4.u, please wait...Installing Title....Error (ret=-1036) See the screen shot attached. Can anyone help with this? I'm currently on v3.4u and didn't to go any further and screw things up. Everything to this point went 100% fine!
