If you DO have bootmii installed as boot2 is it still okay to upgrade and install priiloader? I would like to use priiloader to take advantage of the 'block disc update' feature. If I have boot2, is there another way to block disc updates other than priiloader?? After modding my Wii is it OK to connect to internet or will my machine automatically want to update itself if I do? And also is there any advantage to updating to 4.1 (i would install as a WAD, after patching IOS60), or should I just stick with 3.4? I plan on initially just using Neogamma for playing back-ups, and venture into installing some VC's down the road.

Thanks to the moderators for all of their help. I will be making a healthy donation to this site if I am successful - or if I need help de-bricking - so either way the site wins!! LOL Let's hope it's a celebratory donation!! THANKS
Yes, it is fine to install priiloader even with the brick protection of bootmii as boot2-you will then have the additional benefits of priiloader as mentioned in this tutorial (text is right under the image in Step 5D) . I previously mentioned the benefits assocated with updating your 3.4 to 4.1-sysmenu can recognize SDHC cards up to 32GB, running WiiWare and VC from SD, etc. The only reason you were given alternatives to priiloader and 4.1 update was upon your own request. The tutorial as written from Steps 1 -5 would give the Wii installation of bootmii, NAND backup, update to 4.1, and priiloader. You may indeed update to 4.1, as previously mentioned a 3.4 has no advantages, only missing functions, you may indeed also install priiloader. Essentially, after all discussions and planning for skipped steps, you end up following the tutorial as written. So, finish up the tutorial and enjoy your Wii. Have fun.

Yep, it looks like I will skip no steps and just update and go with Priiloader. Does the 'block update' function of priiloader protect me against upgrading when the Wii IS CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET?

Yes; when dogeggs ported this hack over, some very brave members field tested the hack and it works to block the Nintendo online update.

Also to go along with the Online Updates... The Wiiconnect 24 should be off and you should not have any problems either...

While less reliable than using the NAND backup with bootmii installed as boot2, the NAND backup can be used as a lower priority solution when none of the other fix attempts work out. A NAND backup can also be used with Triiforce. Basically, there is no harm in creating a backup of your NAND regardless of how bootmii was installed and the backup may come in handy in the future.

Sure is, all you needed to do was click on Dog Egg's sig and browse his mediafire; 4.1U is here and 4.1E is here. Install IOS 60 patched first via wad manager, then whichever system menu applies to you (also via wad manager).
