Homebrew Channel is asking me to update from 1.0.5 to 1.0.6. I know the OP says in big red letters "say NO!"... but can someone explain what the reason is?

You failed to read it fully; if you had, you'd know it works with any 4.X Wii.

If you have fully completed the softmod, you may accept the update (better this way, as the chances of it flipping are less likely than doing it mid-mod).

So it's safe to update after the entire softmod is complete? Why wasn't HBC 1.0.6 just included in the files to begin with?

    Hi,

My friend bought a Wii and it has already hacked because he saw HBC, NeoGamma, and Gecko channels. It is weird, but I have no idea where did he buy that.

Anyway, the Wii system menu is still 3.2E, and I dont know if bootmii was installed as well.

Can I use this tutorial to "overwrite" his Wii hack?

Is there anything I should take as pre-caution?

I did this procedure couple of times successfully, but only to un-hacked Wii ...

    Thanks.

Because some people had issues. Usually a reinstall fixed it; in cases where it didn't, updating did fix it. Kind of hard to update the version when it is the current version, right?

Why would you want to do that? Just do Step 3D (in case not latest cIOS). If that's an original 3.2 likely you can get Bootmii as boot2 --- that'd be good to do as well as the NAND backup. Install the IOS near the end of the tutorial, priiloader is still a good idea as well (supported by 3.2)

    Hi!

First of all, I would like to thank Dogeggs for such a wonderful tutorial.

I have successfully softmodded my Wii from 3.2U to 4.1U using this tutorial.

Now, I'm trying to softmod my brother's Wii.

His Wii is 3.3U. I have followed all the steps like I did with my Wii. But I received an error when trying to update to 4.1 (sometimes it's -1, sometimes it's some other number)

Is there anything that i should do? Do i need to downgrade to 3.2U first?

    Thanks!
