im still struggling, thought i followed the guide spot on but must have done something wrong, Wad manager always comes up as IOS036 not 249 and neo gamma and the IOS60 patch always bring up the error code 2011.

not sure what to do now any help would be great. the wii is 3.4 aswell.

    Thanks

Step 3 was not completely successfully. Go back and redo it --- realize you must use the dpad to alter the IOS from the default value to what is called for in the tutorial, as well as the same thing for the value of said IOS. Make sure on that one part you press "A" all three times; an accidental "B" backs you out of the step and fails to complete it as well. Make sure the SD card you're using is 2gb or less (not a MicroSD w/adapter, nor SDHC).

Now the problem is that it seems neogamma wont mount any of the devices i tried, 2.5"pata hdd 40GB(ntfs), usb flash drive 2GB(fat32), 3.5"sata hdd 1TB(ntfs), with the last 2 when i press A it returns to neogamma menu nothing happens, with the 1st one, 40GB hdd it crashes the wii, i press A to mount, screen goes black in the middle, with some letters on the bottom and a neogamma "splashscreen" at the top and stays that way.
You need to make sure your USB controller and HD are compatible. There are two places this can be readily checked - here and here. Also, have you looked at the USB HD guide here?

just a quick THANK YOU to you guys. spent hours trying all sorts to re-install HB but to no avail. just kept telling me 'no vulnerable ios'. then I tried Dogeggs 'How to remove softmods and make your Wii a virgin' followed by this guide and it was so simple to do it's amazing. you guys are awesome.
You had cIOSCorp installed, didn't you? This is posted as a public service for other lurkers out there in case it comes up: there's a thread directly on topic under the recommended tutorials on no vulnerable ios here to fix the problem (though a true fix would IMO involve removal of that particular application).

To install IOS60patched: go to HBC, run Wad Mgr, leave at those default settings I just mentioned. Select the WAD directory and now you should see the contents of the Wad folder, including IOS60patched. Install it.

From Wii Options you should see a series of 6 pages 1 of 6, 2 of 6 etc. Page through and try to recognize 2 menu options 1 is the Internet setting which should have the familiar entry fields to enter your router SID and password. The other, if you did not access this before indicates you neglected to read through all the tutorial text-you should have turned WiiConnect24 to OFF at the start of softmodding in order to avoid a conflict with Bannerbomb and in Step 4 to avoid updating to 4.2 In English language Wiis, the WiiConnect24 and Internet settings are on page 5 of 6 I think.

If you can't figure the Internet settings out, post back and we can have you update to system menu 4.1J offline.
Thanks for the information, I will try again, if you can help me to figure out how to update to system menu 4.1J offline it will be great, after flicking a few pages in Japanese, I'm already lost... My cousin got it for us in Asia that Wii, and was very disappointed from day one that we couldnt' do anything else about it! by the way, would anyone know how to change it to read English Please? Thanks a lot...

Do I still need to go to cIOS38r17installer?
because i already went to the cIOS38r17installer but with ios36.
i tried to follow a tut and they said that I need to load cIOS38r17installer with Ios 249. What do I do now?

You only need internet for updating to 4.1, this can be done offline. When you get to that point, make sure you use one appropriate for your region.

If you are talking about where it says "If you want to update your cIOS in the future" You dont have to worry about that. Thats for people that have an older cios, like me for example, i did this guide when it was cios38r14 or something. Since you just did it, you have that installed already.
