I am new to this site as well as modding. I searched the forums and tried to find an answer for my question but couldn't.
I successfully followed p.1 and have installed BootMii as IOS.
Now I have a problem with p.2: BACK UP YOUR NAND. I was able to use power/reset buttons on my Wii, so I chose to NAND Backup. At about 1/3 of whole process it stopped and froze - now it's about 30 minutes...(see picture).
I keep my Wii on as I'm not sure if it's safe to switch it off (however the power/reset buttons are not responding anymore - I could only unplug the wire).
I'm on 4.1E with 2GB Sandisk SD card for Wii (white).
1. Is it safe to switch it off - obviously I don't want to brick my Wii.
2. What could be the problem and how to make the Nand backup work for me.
I was wrong with power/reset buttons - holding power button for few seconds switched the Wii off.
Re 1: It is safe - nothing harmed I suppose and Wii started normally.
Re 2: I don't know the problem however started all over again with bootmii nand backup.

I had an early modded 3.4 Wii without bootMii and priiloader, but I wanted more security to prevent updates.
Back then things did not always go smoothly, so I was a bit reluctant to proceed, but today I did it.
I first updated to menu 4.1E with waninkoko's updater, then made the Wii a virgin Wii again with the very good tut that is also on this site, just to get rid of all the old stuff.
Then I followed this tut and it worked. I had to install priiloader twice before it was successful though.
Then added the USB Loader via the USB loader tutorial (would be nice if it had some instructions on how to do it even if so trivial).
I do have a question though. What is the use of making a NAND backup if a bit furter on it is said that you better not restore it if you run bootMii via IOS?
What is the use of bootMii if you cannot restore the NAND backup?
tofmik: thank you for making me sureI just turn it off. delete nand from sd card and did everything all over again with the bootmii.
I got it done but my tv looks like crap.
video is awful, what is wrong useing a burneded dvd in neo gamer
I bought my Wii last week, So i guess it has the D3-2 chip installed in it.
I still have some Clarifications :
Is it possible to play games via USB when I have an improper cIOS installation???. Won't that give me some error when I load games via USB??? I m sure the quality of the backup DVD is not the source of 1053 error as the same works perfectly on my friends' wii.
I got it working fine, does it matter what disks I get pal or nsct
I'm having trouble with the Trucha while downgrading ios15.
I'm getting this error after loading the files from the SD card:
error:es_addtitlestart returned -1035, maybe you need an updated Downgrader
and then it says
error: could not set the revision to 0
Thanks in advance.
I had my Wii in a plastic box for nearly 9 months now and never gave it a second thought other than how I would install Homebrew Channel. I stumbled upon your sight and after seeing how easy it is, I pulled out my Wii and started. In a matter of half an hour I've installed everything and nothing went wrong! Thank you so much, you are a true hero and Wii saver. If I never saw this I would probably never used my Wii again.
If neither case applies, use an SD card 1 or 2 GB SD, not SDHC, and not a mini/micro with an adaptor. Format the SD card as FAT32 using the full format command in the PC not the Quick format. Redownload the softmod pack, re-extract the pack using WinRar and once again copy the folder contents to your newly formatted SD card. Make sure the files and folders are in the correct locations as depicted in the Step 1A link. Now try Step 3 again and good luck.
