Upside down Homebrew
Do you have to fix the homebrew chanell when it goes upside down? Can we just leave it that way?

You could but why would you? This is a simple Homebrew reinstall that takes about 5 seconds.

Thanks for the reply Gen. My friend's wii never been configure to go online. When I click on wiiconnect 24 it ask me to accept terms and conditions from Nintendo. I hit cancel and don't know what to do from there. I am afraid it will update my wii to 4.2U. If it has never been configure for wiiconnect24 it should be off right?

The young friend whose 4.1U LU70 wii I tried to screw up using a ios35 downgrader was fixed by taking the update from NSMB disk. I asked the parents to put that game away so she couldn't update it and maybe brick the wii. Well they didn't and she did and it fixed everything. I ran signcheck with no problem (the update didn't delete homebrew). So I followed the guide as stated here, reinstalled bootmii and homebrew, did a nand backup, and everything is perfect!!!!! Playing backups, installing wads, etc. Words can't describe how grateful and happy I am. I will sleep well tonight. I do have a couple of questions I'll throw out there...I know the answers are on the forum to find, but I'll ask anyway. I didn't install priiloader, what are the pros and cons (if any)? And is the reason you should never restore your nand if bootmii is installed as an ios because you will actually be trying to overwrite the ios the bootmii is installed to? Can NSMB retail be played in the disk channel? It's prompting "update needed" to play in disk channel. Of course I won't update this time! One last question...backups are showing up on the disk channel. Is there a way to prevent this? Thanks again.

I believe you are correct. I just successfully used the guide, and I did exactly what you did. I went to turn off wiiconnect24 and pressed cancel as well. Then I followed the guide. Good luck!

Great guide. I have followed it step by step and I am up and running. One question: After performin the whole softmodded guide, when I turn on my Wii, the power LED turns green and I can hear the DVD-Rom spin and then the Wii turns off. I have to press the power a second time and then it turns on again. After the second time, I can run all my applications. Does anyone know why?

Glad it worked out for everyone. I actually though of having you do that, but didn't have the heart to wipe out all your hard work.

One shortcoming about bootmii installed as IOS, is that access to HBC needs to be maintained in the brick disaster-preloader will do that and so preloader becomes the important brick protection is Wiis that can't install bootmii as boot2. Preloader copies into NAND-that is the dangerous part and why folks need to be careful to have done all the steps. It loads up before system menu-thus, preserving access to system menu and HBC-with those one can undo the source of the problem such as installing a bad wad (BannerBrick) or restore other apps, sysmenu, etc. With bootmii sitting in a potentially damaged IOS area trying to restore the NAND becomes less reliable-not undoable-just not the slamdunk it is for the boot2 option.
If the Wii was updated by the NSMB game disc, why would it be asking for another update? That's a bit unusual. Maybe it's the Shop Channel that needs updating: http://www.wiihacks.com/homebrew-dow...installer.html.
After a softmod, original games can still be played in the Disc Channel as before; backup copies are those loaded and played using a loader such as NeoGamma or USB Loader GX.
