That's a helluva gutsy move, if that's a recently purchased Wii you're lucky it didn't brick (generally no one is supposed to downgrade from 4.2); Did you check to see if you're playing PAL on NTSC, or NTSC on PAL? That would account for the B&W... change the options of NeoGamma to cover those bases and it'll work.

Step 4. Update System Menu Question
Hi. I have read this great tutorial and just want to check my understanding as I am very new to this. I have a new UK wii on system 3.4E. I believe it is best to install the homebrew channel first and then update to system 4.1. Is this right? At step 4 can I do an offline install as mentioned in the other tutorial using 'SystemMenu-PAL-v450'? If so do I still need to install the patched IOS60 first? Also there is another offline file offered 'SystemMenu-PAL-NUS-v450
'. What is the difference and can I use either?

No offense but why are you trying to do things differently? I would stick to the guide if I were you.
In your case, you should download the files, install bootmii as boot2, homebrew, backup your nand, update your cIOS and THEN update your system menu. It's important to follow the guide and do everything in that sequence.

I just misread the tutorial and upgraded firmware 4.0 to 4.1E in step 4 before installing OS60-patched
My wii isn't bricked yet, and i was wondering if i can continue with step 5 a) without risking a brick ?
thanks for any answer

my daughter scratched my only version of one of my games, so I downloaded it, but can only find prescrubbed versions. I am trying to follow the steps for wbfs manager, but because it is prescrubbed, there is only one file, and it is not showing .iso---what do I need to do in order to transfer this (compressed) file to WBFS?
