Are you saying that the UUDv2 worked for you Johnnyside? Did you update to 4.1U firmware from Nintendo?

Hmmm... How did you run the Waninkoko update if you couldn't get into your Wii? Did you run it from an ISO in Recovery Mode?

I was on 4.1 before I brick my wii and a good way to start the recovery mode without disassembling a Gamecube controller is to use a DDR gamepad it's what I did and it worked

    Thanks for reply.

But how did you get to 4.1? Did you use some Homebrew channel firmware updater? Or did you update in the Wii System Menu from Nintendo directly?

Also - I thought that after 4.x there was no longer a TRUCHA bug so no custom discs would boot. So how did you boot a custom disc to fix your brick if you were at 4.1? Please dear God give all the details you can - I know 10 other people in same boat as me (4.x, "black-screen after Health Warning" brick, and cant boot ANYTHING but games) - you are OBI WAN! you could be our only hope!

ok so here is all my wii story :

I was on 3.2U(updated with the smach bros game i think) with a mod ship
then I update with nintendo official update to 3.4(big mistake)
to come back to 3.2 I use :
    Wad Manager v1.3 to IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad
Wad Manager IOS 16 to install CIOS_Fix.wad
    Cios-Downgrader
    IOS Downgrader V1
afther that to go to 4.0(to transfer wad to my sd card) I used:
    Waninkoko's "cIOS36 rev.8"
    "Firmware Updater 4.0"
    IOS60/61 Installer/Patcher
then to go to 4.1(for wii sport resort I used:
    Firmware-Updater_4.1.dol

and me wii were working fine utile 2 day ago when I installed 2 new wiiware:
    NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits
    Rock N' Roll Climber
they installed fine but when I reboot my WII....warning screen then freeze(brick)
so I used Universal-Unbrick Disc V2(but not the one from here since it was unable to download i used this one:
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
    )
then I uninstall the villain 2 wad( you need it on your SD card of course) and POUF it was working again(as I said before I used a ddr pad to access recovery mode by holding the four direction and starting my wii with a wireless controler)

and also this UUDv2 is said to use cIOS249 so if you have it already installed you not suppose to need a modchip but I don't know if it's true since I have a modchip so if someone try please tell us the result
I wish I could help someone with all this

Thanks for the full details, johnnyside.

My other brick-comrades please correct me if I'm wrong but I'm guessing the key ingredient to johnnyside's success was:
    • He updated firmware to 4.0 and 4.1 via custom (non-Nintendo) files. This kept the all the IOS stuff in tact so CUSTOM DISCS would still boot on his Wii.

Again, sadly, I updated to 4.0U via the official Nintendo method which is why, I think, none of my custom discs are booting.

    Anyone else agree/disagree w/my theory?

    Thanks johnnyside...

Unfortunately, I've burned that particular version (as well as the LCUD, Pink Fish and other "rescue" discs) *MULTIPLE* times each... using different media, different burners, different burn speeds.

NOTHING will boot on my brick from Health Warning screen or from Rescue Mode except Wii games (retail and backups). Everything else gets the "An error has occurred. Press eject...bla bla" message.
