Like I JUST said, just install the new one. If anything gets removed then you don't need it anymore.

That error is because you do not have the new CIOS with the system menu 4.0 updates,

    http://www.wiihacks.com/news-annouce...der-1-1-a.html - download here

The CIOS is a .DOL file so you must put it in a folder then int othe apps section of the HDC so SD CARD > APPS > NEW CIOS > CIOS.DOl, if you get me?
so following these steps icould potetntially run an external hdd(usb) on the wii.

just softmodded the wii today via wifi anfter the enitial elf loader..thnx as i am new to Wii but not tooo new to modding.

    Hey guys,

Sorry for the really noob Q but I cant get this to work, and have been at it for hours.

    Heres what I have :-

    Wii version 3.4E
Segate FreeAgent Desk USB 2/0 HHD 1TB
    I have installed SD/USB Loader v1.5

I get ERROR! (ret=-1) when I try to mount the device.

    heres what I have installed
    IOS36-64-v1042.wad
    USB_loader_1_5.wad
    IOS35-64-v1040.wad
    Forwarder.wad
    CIOSv7.wad

Infact everything that was in the package - all wnt fine, I have the USB loader on the channels, but I get this error every time.

I have tried to format the drive FAT32 but the only option is NTFS. Is it because the drive is to big and i need to partition it ?

or have a gone wrong some where else

    TIA

    Ump..

    Edit :-

Since my last post I have used the fat32format tool and formatted it to FAT32 - still no joy

    Edit 2:-
I have now formatted an SD the HDD and a 1GB memory stick in WBFS using Maximllions WBFS Gui v2 and still gives the wrong error - either they are all incompatible or I have a system file wrong some where

    Edit 3:-

Seems the FreeAgent dont work with the hack :- How to Store/Load Wii Games via USB Hard Drive [Slick Tricks] any one know different ?

Not wanting to pee in anyones pool, but I have jumped ship.

I first tried USBLoader 1.5 - it was hit and miss if it worked.

Then I tried UsbloaderGX, nice gui but was even more hit and miss at detecting the HDD and in the end just gave me a Wii - stop.

Then I tried Uloader 2.1 - this was the first loader that seemed to work, the gui was horrid and it did not download covers.

Then I found the Configurable USBLoader - this looks like USBLoader 1.5 but works, it downloads all the covers - has built in cover flow and works.

    I am using FreeAgent 1TB - cIOS249_v10 - 3.4E will.

On-off trick still applies at first boot - but then its all good.

I am not quite understanding this WBFS stuff on page #1. All i did was use partition magic on my 1tb Maxtor external. Then i used WBFS to format half the partition. Everything was going great, games were loading no problem. Then today when i got home from work, the drive did not work, it's dead according to the tech. Did i do something wrong here? Or what did i didn't do?
