    Question Burning summary - 1st attempts go wrong

    Hi all,
    first of all I'm new to this forum and this is my first post/question - nice to meet!

    So I actually read this whole thread before posting my question, I'm not sure I have all the info.

    Background:
    I have a WII NTSC 3.1U firmware, installed homebrew channel and trying to use Backup Launcher 0.3beta to load ISO (d'loaded from the web). My first try is Wii Music, downloaded ISO and fixed size using Backup Creator. Burned on Maxell 16x dvd-r media using my Optiarc AD-7580A laptop burner and ImgBurn software. When I try to load the game with backup launcher I get a garbled message saying something about dvd error, failed, etc (text words are written one on top of the other) and that's it. To clarify, I didn't install a hack chip.

    Questions:
    1. Has anyone had experience with this? I know people get games to work, but has anyone had these failures and are they burn related?
    2. Could it be the media? I understand Verbatim is the king but I read somewhere in this forum that they've *used to* use Tayo Youden dye and now they don't, but Maxell still uses them - which means I should've gotten a good disk, no? Here is that thread: http://www.wiihacks.com/dumping-burn...best-disc.html
    3. I use 1x write speed - should I be doing something else?
    4. Anything else that may be the cause here?

    Thanks!!!

    Ca just read all 14 pages!

    hi all,

    great information above in most of the threads..and this answered all my questions regarding game backups.

    one this that is repeated over and over is to use good quality disc and low speed and thats what fixed my problem. ( i was getting blank screen from some of my backups)

    Thanks

    Can you use any DVD Burner to burn Wii backups? (My Wii is softmodded with Backup Loader and all that..)

    I've got some Wii games which are getting scratched and i would like to burn them with my Memorex DVD Burner on regular dvd-r's, will it work?

    Thanks guys I appreciate it

    you can only burn genuine wii games with a lg gdr 8164b -8163 -8162- 8161 only those 4 will work with the correct software if you have back up games already then any burner will do.

    First, make sure that before following this tutorial that you have a modchip installed. If you do not: "This Will Not Work"

    For more information on where to purchase mod chips visit: www.foundmy.com

    One problem with most burners is the ability to read ISO's with these WII games, software like powerISO gives errors. I say stick with freeware. If it works use it.
    For this software we are going to be using IMGburn.

    Download link: Click Here To Download (SAFE)

    /////////////////////////////////////////

    When you install that software open it.
    From there you notice it is somewhat simple.

    Please excuse my use of Paint, I dont have Photoshop on this computer.

    /////////////////////////////////////////
    1. Click on number one where the arrow is pointing to in the image to browse for your ISO file. Try to use .ISO files to avoid confusion.

    2. Make sure your destination is set at your dvd Burner.

    3. Change your write speeds to 2X, or 1X, the slower the better.

    /////////////////////////////////////////
    Make sure that you are using DVD-R's for best results.

    4. Click Burn which is this unhighlighted field currently, (because I have a burned disc in my drive)
    it will take approximately 15 minutes on 2x

    Its Done!

    Thank you for your time
