How to upgrade to 4.1 with homebrew still working

Updated this to the 4.1 installer.

    What you will need:

    a) Homebrew Channel already installed

    b) cIOS249r17

    c) Waninkokos firmware updater 4.1

    d) Patched IOS60

    e) 300+ free blocks in your Wii memory

Copy the app and wad to your SD card and do the following:

    1) Install cIOS249 rev17.

    2) Install IOS60patched.wad with wad manager.

    3) Restart your Wii.

    4) Now run Waninkokos Firmware-Updater_4.1 and follow any prompts until it's finished.

You will now have System menu 4.1 with most of your homebrew working and the ability to play wiiware/vc wads off of your SD card. If you really want the shop channel then install it offline with this wad.

Would i still able to install WADs via the WAD Manager. What is the little bit of homebrew that will not be working?

Wads can still be installed, its starfall and preloader that aren't working on 4 as they hack the system menu which is now different, i doubt those apps that change the appearance of your sys menu work either. So no brick protection and no fancy menus!

    Thumbs down Bricked...

Everything went swimmingly until Waninkoko's Firmware Updater 4.0 failed on updating the "Shopping Channel". Now my Wii appears bricked

Does anyone have any advice? TIA.

What you mean the part you were supposed to say NO to ??
Have you used the search function ? used the Tutorial section ?

    Bricked...

I did say "NO" in the IOS 61 Shop Update; but not in Waninkoko's Firmware Updater 4.0. Oh, well.

I'm not a noob at this, BTW; I've installed the Twilight Hack, The Homebrew Channel, various IOSs, WADs, and so on. I know the risks; I blame no-one but myself.

If your supposed to say NO to that option. Then whats the point of even including it in the process? If YES messes up your wii then why even have it there? or am i missing something?

Good point, well made. Incidentally, there are other boards which talk you through the installation process too (they add a couple of custom IOSs you need to install first), and they don't say anything about doing anything with Waninkoko's updater other than following the prompts. So maybe I just got really unlucky here?

Oh, and I'm mentioning Waninkoko quite a bit - can I just point out I have nothing but respect for the guy. Nothing I've said should be taken as criticism of him or his work, which has been nothing short of exceptional.

I keep trying Waninkoko's updater but it freezes right after downloading the 15th file.

    Anyone else having this issue?

I screwed up a Shop Channel update in the past and now it crashes when I try to launch it. You think this will help, or do I need to do something else first?
