@DogEggs: Hi! I followed your other Tutorial the "New 3.1-4.1 Softmod" and it worked fine. My friend already have a Softmoded wii but he can't play newer games, so my question is this: Should I update his wii with this tutorial? or is there any other way to follow your other tutorial (New 3.1-4.1 Softmod) just to have his wii similiar to mine? Thanks a lot!

    Fine guide, thx!

I do have some suggestions though. I have been softmodding myself for about 4 months now, fixing several Wii's, and one of the things i know i was always scared of as a new guy to this, is the guides that says "do this in these 2 easy steps" - while the process on the Wii is five steps.

    Let me explain a bit.

    The guide says "1) Install cIOS249 rev14."

The real world says "1) Install cIOS249 rev14, using IOS36, and perform a SD card installation".

When installing cIOS249, you have different settings that you can change - and these are not described. I know its a minor issue, and that if people just click okay / yes / proceed all the way through the process, its no problem - but I also know it would not take that long to expand the first step of this terrific guide...

Also, it says "b) cIOS249r14" - but when you click the link, you are guided to the file "cIOS38_rev14-Installer.rar" - that is kindda confusing?

Bottom line - VERY nice guide! But with room for small improvements.
    - Did I help you? Then thank my post!
    - My help is voluntarily, be nice!
    - My advice MAY help, and it MAY brick your Wii. I do my best, but the risk is yours!

    first: THX for the guide!!!!

MY problem/ Situation : I'm using a 3.2E System, with HBC, etc, (I installed it last year).

    I wanted to update to 4.1 using http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html ,
so first I thought i would make the Wii a "Virgin" again : http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...ii-virgin.html

    But i need 4.1, so i came to this thread : http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...l-working.html

    What you will need:

    a) Homebrew Channel already installed [check]
    b) cIOS249r14 [got it/ check]
    c) Waninkokos firmware updater 4.1 [got it/ check]
    d) Patched IOS60 [got it/ check]
    e) 300+ free blocks in your Wii memory [got it/ check]

    everything alright so far....

NOW i have a clean SD card here (old data still available: boot.dol, WAD folder, app-folder)

Copy the app and wad to your SD card and do the following:

    1) Install cIOS249 rev14. [first problem: which IOS?, testet a few, all i get is an error]

    2) Install IOS60patched.wad with wad manager. [ok..]

    3) Restart your Wii. [ok...]

    4) Now run Waninkokos Firmware-Updater_4.1 and follow any prompts until it's finished. [How do i get to run? simply start the HBC?]

I'm sure these questions are stupid but right now I'm completly in NOOB-Mode

EDIT: or should i just play a game to update to 4.1? (Wii Resort for example?)
