I just ordered some Verbatim DVD-Rs from Amazon since all I use at home are Verbatim DVD+R. They'll be here on Monday hopefully. I am assuming you don't need to do anything with the iso images other than burn them in imgburn.
    Thanks
Sorry, doing things too quickly, more haste less speed.
Here is the drive chip data base.
    Wii Drive Chip Database
No need to do anything with ISO.
Some people who run from disc with no protection, (no I don't mean condoms)
use wiiscrubbed to make sure the iso is safe.

Thanks. I am not at home at the moment to check my Wii.
So what are the repercussions of having a D3-2 chip? It wont read any CDRs period, correct? Including DVD-R.
So if mine is one the only way to play backups is to hook up an extrnal HDD to the Wii and load ISOs on it?

Ye sif yu have that chip you cannot play backup DVD's.
    It will play originals.
You can use all the features of USB Loaders.

For me this is not a problem, I never use DVD's, cumbersome and old hat.

They are both the same, so you are OK.

Thanks for the ongoing help WiiJohn.
I partitioned my external USB HDD and got it running the Wii games. I just have a question. In another thread you recommended running USB loader instead of creating a channel. Right now I have to go to homebrew channel and select the loader from there to run off my SD card. Is there a simpler way to run it so I don't have to dig down for it everytime to get it to run?
I would imagine it involves installing a wad. Can you point me to where I can get the instructions?
    Thanks again

There are three ways to install and use USB Loader GX,

From the HBC , extract to apps directory on SD card
    usb loader GX.rar
As a Channel, copy to wad directory on SD card, install wad with wad manager, or method of your choice
    USB Loader GX r778 - ULNR.wad
As a Forwarder, copy to wad directory on SD card install wad with wad manager, or method of your choice
    USB_Loader_GX-ULNR-r719.wad
