ps i didn't agree to the wiiconnect24 agreement so i don't think i can use the shop channel
IOS254 is a dummy file added by Nintendo to block patchmii...dunno if you can delete it?

I don't think deleting IOS254 will make any difference...have you installed the patched IOS60? If not, then it will more than likely solve your problems.

No thats not it! Just install it, if you already have it it will just overwrite itself...if not it will fix your problem.

    I'm scared......

I've followed your guide from page 1, there was not an option to install the shop channel (yes/no), it just installed it and it ran the whole thing without any user intervention.........

Now it says "press any key to restart"

I'm scared to press the button as I'm worried it's gonna be bricked......what should I do???

Mine did the same and was fine. Just kept on installing everything. Mine works fine even with them installed.

So just before I press this button then, this new setup does support SDHC cards?

Do I need to switch back on the policy I have on my router to stop updates from online now?

yes, Homebrew only works on certain cards, and RockBand2 can not see DLC on it. Running channels from the SD is pretty sweet.

    EDIt:
here is the link for what works with homebrew.

so if I get a 8gb SD card I'm safe? I was thinking about a 16gb SDHC card, but not sure this will work?

So the fact it's installed all the way is good then? I've still not pressed the button.....lol
