For some reason I dont have the option to choose "IOS38 merged with IOS37" or "IOS37 merged with IOS60" It will only show IOS 38 and then a few steps later, IOS60.... I dont know why this is happening. My wii is 4.1U and My instruments that wont synch up is the RB2 Stratocaster and drum (Both are RB2 instruments and not RB1).

Any ideas on why i dont have those merged IOS selections? Thanks.

Ca lego rock band USB instruments doesn't work

    HI,

I use a wii with system 3.4U with the good old twilight hack.

I bought a real Rock Band Beatles games and, obviously all works fine.
I was able to install Rock Band Launcher and I am able to start Rock Band 2 on a copied DVD.

I am able to start Rock band Lego with Neogamma R7 but without USB instruemnts (except microphone)

I tried using BOOSKILLA's procedure, but I do not have a USB LOADER. I only use copied DVD which usually works fine.

Do, I installed 222/223 with merged patches as indicated, but still unable to get USB instruments.

    any help is appreciated.

EDIT: PROBLEM FIXED, Using SoftChip R102, with option IOS232 and FAke IOS did the trick! I am a happy camper

    Thanks

Secondly if you don't have homebrew channel installed then don't even bother reading this, You will need homebrew channel so if you don't have it, go get it!

    Now, Download this for starters
ciosinstaller.zip - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage

You will notice the zip file is in the correct structure for you to just extract and copy it over to your sd card, I made the folders apps\ciosinstaller\

I also put the boot.dol all ready for you =D

Once that is done, Jump on the wii and fire up homebrew channel.

Now, Navigate your sd card till you find the "ciosinstaller" and load it, When it loads you will be greeted by a black screen with white writing, It should look like this:

You now need to use the d-pad, to change the selection of the cios that is about to be installed, You need to change it to install

    Custom IOS37 with IOS36 rev7 dip as IOS249

once you've got it to that, Go ahead and install it, It will download the necessary files off the net and install them, Once thats done reboot the wii and play RB2 with instruments!

Also here is a movie showing me load the program and select a few of the available options to give you an idea of what there is.... (The name I used on my card was different but its the same installer )

You don't really need to watch it, but it might help some

ciosinstaller.wmv - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage

    * NOTE: *

If you have this all installed on 3.2 and the drums work, When you upgrade to 4.0 through the homebrew update thats floating around, Then the drums WILL NO LONGER WORK!!!!!!!! One way I've seen to get past this is to find "softchip" It will allow you to boot with cios37 which will allow the instruments to work, Other then that there is a thread on wiihacks about downgrading cios which might allow you to then reinstall cios37 as cios36 and use gamma launcher as normal.......

There are posts saying that you need to install cios37 as 232 and do it that way, I haven't tried that, but I'm sure that it works.

For users on later firmwares 4.0+ please go to this thread, download the multio cios installer and installer IOS37 as 232 and boot softchip using cIOS 232,

will give you the same support from instruments you need

I have now taken a slightly different approach to getting this running, to overcome the problem with DLC not deleting itself from the system menu.

What i have done is used Uloader 5 to emulate my NAND onto a usb hard drive, so RB2 thinks my Wii memory is a FAT32 partition on said drive. I gave myself 30gb to play with, so i have managed to download the entire 900+ collection of DLC and have all installed on RB2!

This guide assumes you've already installed all the regular wii hacks and the hairyballsagna dlc hacks and can already run rock band from usb, and the shop works for you

Before you start it's important to install Hermes v5 - http://www.wiihacks.com/wii-custom-s...-released.html
When you set this up, install cios223 as ios37 (it will auto merge with 38)

    and Uloader 5.0 homebrew app - http://www.wiihacks.com/software-bac...-5-0-here.html

and FSToolbox homebrew app - FSToolbox - WiiBrew

You also need to format a USB hard drive with two partitions in Windows. The primary partition must be WBFS, so prepare that one as normal. The secondary partition must be FAT32 and should be about 25gb if you want to fit all the RB2 songs on it and a bit bigger if you're going to do TBRB and the GH games too
If you are on vista or win 7, it doesn't format in "real" fat32 hard drives over 32gb so use this tool instead: Ridgecrop Consultants Ltd

After all that's prepared, run FS Toolbox and take a NAND dump. It will dump the entire folder structure of your nand to your SD card into a folder called FSTOOLBOX

Move that FSTOOLBOX folder to your FAT32 partition and rename the folder to NAND

Install your game(s) to your WBFS partition

ok. now you should be good to go. Run the Uloader 5.0 homebrew app and you will see your games listed on the unfortunately rubbish menu. Select one of the games and go into the option for it

Change the IOS to 223 and change the location of Save games from NAND to USB

As long as the x:\nand box goes green, it has found your nand dump

Run the game. When the health warning appears, remove your SD card. This is important as otherwise the game will try to copy all your DLC to the SD every time it starts, and there is no need, and eventually you will have too much to fit on the card.

The game should now load as normal. The Shop should work and as long as you leave your SD out, the DLC will download to the FAT32 partition on your HD

There are a couple of downsides:

The more DLC you download the longer it will take to load initially. I have all of the current DLC which is around 940 and it takes about 7 or 8 minutes to get to the main menu. After that though, the loading and saving is pretty quick, certainly faster than SD card.

The shop also takes a long time to load, so it may be painful getting a lot of DLC this way. You can also download it all on your pc and copy it across but that's a job for another guide...

Your save game is now on the hard disk so don't forget. You can take a backup of the nand any time you like by copying the folder to your pc.

I believe you need to install Hermes IOS V4 or better to enable USB Mic if using USB instruments. Hermes V4 is here; V5.1 is here.

Also, this thread is for users < 4.0, you are not. Did you consult this guide/thread?

Regardless, try Hermes. I mean here it is in a nutshell: your USB device is taking up the one active port; the only way to use the other port is with Hermes (whether Mic or whatever; no HD on 2nd port though).

Is there any way to make RB2 boot faster from USB ? I'm using a brand new black wii v4.2, hermes cios 223 v5.1, uLoader 5.1d, the complete DLC catalog is on a FAT32 partition using NAND emulation. Everything works great, no probs with any instruments, but the game takes 30-45 minutes to load.

Ok, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Rock Band instruments. I use discs, and no usb loader.
I used the method of patching the 232 with 37/37, 37/36, 36/37, 36/36 to try and see if it works, and loading the games with SoftChip.
    My problems are:
On rock band 2, everything works.
On rock band 1, only the Drums.
Guitar Hero Metallica, Guitar and mic.
    Guitar hero WT: Only guitar.
    Rock band beattles: Wont start.

I donīt have any more games to try. Any one knows what to do ?

System Menu 4.1U, everything up to date. (i think)
