I purchased a DriveKey and have to say that I've found that soft mod is just as good if not better, in my humble opinion. My DriveKey sits in a drawer now. I have two Wii one is the dreaded LU65 model both are soft modded and work just fine loading games from the loader channel.

One Wii uses a hard drive and the other still uses backup disks. I think each route has its pluses and minuses.

    Good Post...and polemic thread...

I think is good the people say, and express your opinion...but of course, sometimes something better hurts, more for the people who have some business on modchip area...

But come on... "Kick right on your balls" ??? isn't good... but someone with power, come and say something.

Now for me, iam will try softmod... iam on the first part...and i will report some issus if they appear.

    Best regards

I believe this is properly placed, I have soft modded my Wii and loving it no problems what so ever. My curiosity is if a problem did arise and I bricked my console would it be possible to fix with a modchip.

Mod chip blocks updates. I click no for system update. I dont see the hassle there.
Softmod free, requires updates from time to time and changing of certain procedures to accomodate changes with games and errors along the path. Thats still much better than paying. Hell isnt hacking a means to eliminate expendatures and not to create one?

I can't quickly recall if this violates any forum rules, and I'm not affiliated with them, but I've had people get their modchips from FoundMy.com and they seem to be very quick and reliable, respond to emails, etc. I believe you can preorder the new WODE from them, too.
    Wii (Fall 2007) DMS chipset.

This is a which method and why thread. Seems to me it will continue to lean toward chips until the softmod people chime in with the pros for their method. Perhaps you could enlighten the rest of us on your preferred method.

No, id rather not. But i could pick apart the OP, alot of it is just wrong. Well maybe not wrong, but it makes it sound like its stupid to pick softmod.

thats because they work. with a damn site less hassle, only they cost money

softmod is a lot more risky but is free.

pay the money or don't it's up to you. if you pay you don't have to keep up with the scene, just fit and go. via softmod you will need to keep up with events as they unfold.

as for softmod people chime in with pro's, i think they are all too busy on other pages of the forum helping out people who have screwed up wiis with softmod.

i say if you got the money or no brain get a chip it's safer

Why are you reading this? its always the same!!
