i have a netcomm NB6Plus4w modem/router which keeps rebooting its self every ten minutes exactly every ten minutes is the modem screwed or....
Hard to say.
I had a Netgear router that would reboot itself around 5 seconds after the internet got connected, I was able to resolve it by switching off Wireless as it appeared to be a power issue. I replaced the power supply and all was well for a while but it began rebooting again. I flashed the firmware with a customised version and all has been well since.
Electronics should not reboot themselves at a predefined interval unless some sort of corruption is going on. Try factory resetting the router if you are able and see if that resolves anything.
i did the reset.... lasted bout and hour but when i open more then one page its just reboots again i called the isp and they say i am connected while my modem is not connected.
i tried changing filter/splitter...nothing
That is strange.
Doesn't sound very well at all. Is it overheating? I had a fan blowing on mine to test this hypothesis.
Do you have an alternate solution? Is the router a ISP supplied one that's preconfigured? Or just one you had to setup yourself?
Well you could try running the router with the telephone line disconnected, and put it in a nice hot place.
The DSLAM at the exchange could interrupt your connection but can't reboot it for you by remote.
''try running the router with the telephone line disconnected"
cant belive i didnt think of that....... well that worked it loads up multiple pages its been 20 min lol
i think my filter splitter is screwed all 3 of them lol
Nope rebooted again.twice
tried every thing possible.
I called the my phone line company they ll send someone to fix the line...he can do it i know its the phone line.Tealc Thanks for the help much appreciated.
I didn't think of the filter. Having a dodgy filter would reduce your throughput and possibly disconnect your internet service but would it cause a reboot of the router? Hmm, unless your router is configured to reboot when it drops signal? Mine just tries to reconnect itself.
i figured it out nothign with the modem lolz i had corroded wires in the main telephone socket...ahhhhhhhhhh
Oh yes that'll do it. I had that with my first ADSL 512kbit connection, it would disconnect (but not reboot) quite a bit. I was wired by aluminium and after 30 years it had corroded away and actually broken a connection in places, quite how it maintained any form of connection was beyond me.
Nice to hear you are now sorted.
