    Sunkey lite

Help....I had a Wii modded with an original Wii-Key. Worked great. That one ended up as a doorstop after a fire sprinkler system went off.

Got another Wii and had a friend put a Sunkey Lite in it. NOw very few of my back ups work. My question is, do I have to burn back-ups a special way for the Sunkey Lite. I have always used Memorex DVD+R and never had any problems. Usually burn the iso with imageburn at 1.5X.

Recommendations or suggestions greatly appreciated. Eitherer PM or on this thread would be great.

Thank you VERY VERY much in advance!

It could be a few things. Since it works sometimes it is a problem with your media.

Burning slower sometimes is worse than faster with the technology of the new burners and discs. Try burning at 4x or 8x and see if you get better results.

The other thing is your +R discs. Wiis generally prefer -R discs and for whatever reason some are extremely pickier than others. It sounds like either a picky wii drive or bad burn quality and boost up your disc burn speed

    Us

even if I have a finiky drive, changing media and burn speed should do the trick? I sure hope so. I have a couple hundred back ups that my kids can't play. Thank you!

    Absolutely!

When I started to mod I did my friends wii and I thought I killed the chip with the install because it wasn't working. After like 2 days of playing around I found out it was working all along. He just had a picky drive. I ended up keeping the same discs and speed but I flashed my DVD burner with the newest firmware and that did the trick.

Playing with media/burn speeds or updating burner firmware will solve your problem.

You have to make sure that you aren't burning any scrubbed discs (smaller .iso). Make sure your iso files are full dvd size.

    I have good luck

I have a Sunkey lite. At first i had a no boot situation but i took it back apart and reseated the ribbons VERY carefully and made sure they were straight. Also Mine is NTSC so i run region lock off and update block on. I first updated to 4.1u before i turned on update block. and so far im having VERY good results. On just about any media plus or minus r. scrubbed or not. Im just having a blast. Im sure there are better chips but the 1.1b sunkey lite for me was a economical solution and it works with most pal and every ntsc ive thrown at it. and of course nsmb with the hb channel and gecko with the cheats. I guess id re check the ribbons they can get cockeyed very easy. And make sure you stick it up high enough so it dont pull the dvd cable ribbon out when you set the drive back down. Ive found about half way up the gamecube contrller ports works well and make sure the ribbons are perfectly centered.
dunno if that helps but for me it works like a charm. I have a release wii but apparently its not supposed to matter. my burns are 12 to 16 x as well with riteks

The Wii does appear to like -r better. Also i have personally found that a very slow burn does not work very well at all. I did that at first and none ran as well. I said screw it and went to 12x with -r ritek and those 2 jumper settings like i said checked the cables and since then im batting 100% on ntsc and 80% on pal. so i guess i would burn at at least 8x and try using -r. if its a 1.1b like mine you should have the same results I do. U can pm me if ya like

The only way that I can tell is to look at the chip itself. It has a sticker on the back side of the chip that should have a Q.C. Passed and a V1.???. or if it has the mushroom sticker on the top of the chip, it would be the newest version.
