Torrents too slow, my idea is better
Torrent downloading is waaaaaaaay too slow, as I have done it for several years, and I have been introduced to something called MegaUpload.com. Through that, it doesn't matter how many seeders or how many leechers the file has, all that matters is the speed of your computer, at its max. With torrents, its possible for me to get anywhere between 1-300 kb/s(most of the time under 50 kb/s), but with MegaUpload.com, I can always a constant 300kb/s which is much much faster. I think we need to open up a topic just for megaupload/rapidshare download links, as this will make things run much faster.
Also, for those who hate downloading a part at a time and performing the image verification on MegaUpload, the program CryptLoad does it all for you. Just add the links to the game all into the program, and watch it run.

sure, the speeds can POTENTIALLY be faster...but you've got to factor in all the downsides....
1. The parts are an issue, I don't care if a program combines them for me, they're still annoying.
2. That little thing megaupload likes to call a "download quota" in which you can barely download a low quality video file before your quota is up for a while.
However, to its credit, Megaupload is quite useful ONLY during Happy Hour Premium. Besides that short little late night span of time, megaupload is too frustrating to download large files.
Furthermore, torrenting is only slow if you are new at it and don't know how to find torrents with enough seeders. This can be a problem on many public trackers, though private trackers usually keep files well seeded and INCREDIBLY fast. However, to be fair, there are certain files (though very few in the grand scheme of things) that are not well seeded anywhere. Though if you're referring to rom torrents...you are definitely not looking in the right places...as the places i go (generally private trackers or public ones with good publicity) have roms nice and fast, at full dl speed, usually guaranteed.
Just adding my two cents to that lol.

Well, the thing with megaupload.com is that there is a constant max speed. Your own computer has its own internet speed, and nothing can go over that max speed. When you get a torrent, it also factors in the trackers' speeds, so it will go between 0 and the max speed. When you use MegaUpload, its always that max speed, without the need to look up private trackers(that takes much more time than adding parts). Also, with the CryptLoad program, adding the parts only takes about 10 seconds. You just highlight all the megaupload URL's and then it will automatically add all the parts into the program. And by "Happy hour," I think you're talking about RapidShare Happy Hour. The download quota is like "Only 6 gigs per every 24 hrs," and 45 seconds in between each download.

hmmm, well this cryptload sounds interesting...to say the least
never the less, the computer itself does indeed have a max speed, but you will never reach that speed unless you're shelling out thousands per month on your net connection. I believe you mean to refer to the speed cap that your ISP uses. Nothing to do with your computer hardware, that's their doing.
And no, i am NOT, in fact, talking about rapidshare's happy hour, i am indeed speaking of the megaupload equivalent, as shown here on this page [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]. This can be used by downloading their infernal toolbar to your computer and clicking the "happy hour premium" button.
I understand what you're trying to say for megaupload, and yes, to an extent, it is a constant speed. However, that speed comes with limitations, like CAPTCHA (thank GOD it's not as annoying as rapidshare's) download quotas, advertisements, file size limits, etc. Furthermore, megaupload lacks one major feature that torrents have: a search feature. That alone discredits megaupload in my eyes. I mean, how am i to know if megaupload has my file? Of course, there are ways, and there are threads for that, but it's the inconvenience of it all. Torrents make it easy. I search for a torrent, i download the torrent file, i open it, i click ok (and sometimes customize before that) and I do nothing else but wait. And considering I dl at full speed in most cases, I'm done with my entire torrent in minutes most times. I cannot say the same for Megaupload, it lacks that....convenience.
Edit: Also, another note, the tracker speeds have little to nothing to do with it...since all they do is connect you to peers...torrenting is entirely based on how fluid and fast your and your peers connections are

Well...the reason im requesting a MegaUpload.com section is to take away the searching part. I want anyone who has any links to contribute and share with each other. Yes, the lack of a search feature is very frustrating, yet we have a torrent section and not a MegaUpload section. Anyone can just type the game name in the torrent search engine and find it, we really dont need to have a topic for that. And when I meant max speed, i messed up, i mean the cap the ISP puts on you.

now see, THAT i can agree with lol
why didn't you just say that in the first place? :P
that's a nice and logical idea, and would make it easier for those who are less experienced in the realm of torrenting, and/or just find them too frustrating to use.
because truly megaupload, just add a search feature lol.

They both have their pros and con's
newsgroups are the fastest
but some of us..(not saying who) average 1-2 meps using a torrent client and using standard high speed broadband cable

I like RS. Its fast enough for me. Using Free Download Manager all I have to do is copy the links to it and it does the work for me. I can get my 4g file in roughly 20-30 mins on average. So far I have found 300 games I can get off RS. I think I will try out newsgroups though just to compare things.
