How to burn Wii games correctly with IMGBURN

A common mistake of those who use IMGBURN is that they adjust the writing speed to 4x (for Wii Games), but always forget to adjust the speed for the type of DVD disc used while burning and the speed adjustment of the drive.

    Here's what to do:

    1. Put your blank DVD-R (it doesn't matter if you use the cheap ones) in the DVD drive. Let IMGBURN read the type of DVD you are using. After it recognize the DVD, click on the green running man at the right of the speed setup.(See thumbnail 1)

    2. After this you will see a window where you will add the DISC ID by clicking on the green arrow besides the DISC ID max speed. Then set the max speed of the DISC ID to 4x.
Do the same with the DEVICE. Specify the device you will use and set the speed to 4x. Click add or update to ensure the info is in the top part of the window.
At the end click OK. (See thumbnail 2)

    3. You must be now back in the main window. Browse for your iso. Make sure also the write speed is at 4x in this window. Now start burning your DVD game(See thumbnail 3)

    It works flawlessly. Good Luck.

You correctly ID the issue of minimum speed for the newer discs/burners. The two speeds that are recommended is really to start at 4X and for those that can 2.4 or 2X if the 4X fails. The 1X recommendation was in the era of the older slower burners and available discs. Now, 1X actually introduces artifactual errors of its own so only as a last ditch effort before moving on to USB HDD is 1X attempted. As you can only go to 4X that will be your test, if successful, you can actually move up in burn speed to find maximal speed capable of a successful burn.

How to make a copy of a Wii game disc

I read your instructions on burning the dvd and it is pretty good step by step instructions. I placed one of my Wii games in my laptop dvd burner it wouldn't read the disc. So I can't make an iso file to then burn to the disc. Just looking for a little help.

    Thanks

I've had no problems using TDK DVD+R...Remember to turn burn at 4x.

    Papa,

Make sure you are using a program that reads ISO.file. Ex.. IMGBURN etc.....
