    Question cIOS Updates with HARDMOD

I have a WHITE Wii from about 3 years ago. Installed the Drivekey when Drivekey 1st came out. I checked my Wii and I am on Operation system 4.0U. I haven't been able to play new games for awhile now and pretty much gave up on the Wii in general. Now I am getting back into it becuase my boy is 11 and plays regularly.

Here are my questions before I spend more money on the drivekey product and my Wii.

If I upgrade to the new firmware from Drivekey using the JTAG Programmer do I still need to install the cIOS' to play backups of games like "COD Black Ops", "Metroid Other M", "Monster Hunter Tri" and so on? Also my boy and I would like to play Xenoblade.

I was under the impression after reading tones of material that in order to update cIOS' that you needed a homebrew soft mod app?

Does the newer drivekey JTAG update load the newer IOS' and if so do I still need to update to 4.1U?

    Thanks in advance

    Talking

(sorry for the caps my keyboard got stuck and don't feel like retyping)

I HAVE A DRIVE KEY AND A SOFT MODDED WII THAT WAS 4.1U NOW 4.3U AS OF YESTERDAY. but still have not updated my drivekey
AND I KNOW THAT THE DRIVEKEY NEED TO BE UPDATED TO READ THE SECURITY CODE A.K.A AUTHENTICATE KEY (NOT BURNT) FOR NSMB AND SLOWLY MORE GAMES MIGHT START TO USE THIS KIND OF ENCRYPTION KNOW "BCA" I THINK.
AS FOR THE CIOS YOUR ASKING ABOUT THINK OF IT AS DRIVERS TO PLAY THE GAME YOU WILL ALWAYS NEED TO USE THEM AND SOMETIME ADD WHEN YOU GET A NEW GAME HIGHER THAN YOU 4.1 REV A PROBLEM YOU MAY RUN INTO LIKE I DID ALL YOU DO IS FIND OUT WHAT CIOS IT USES DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL.

I JUST USE A HARD DRIVE FOR MY GAMES AS I DON'T WANT TO KILL MY LASER LIKE MY OTHER WII I PLAYED WAY TO MUCH SMASH BROS BRAWLS.

I guess I mean IOS. Didn't know that hardmods were specific to the actual IOS and soft mods cIOS. Thanks for the clarification.

So I am getting back into this and I guess I am looking to install IOS'. I read the Hardmod tutorial that has me working through BannerBomber and installing IOS36?

Thanks Richard. I need to do more reading I guess. I thought that everything I read said NOT TO UPDATE IOS' below 200 because then you are actually messing with root/system files. All cIOS' are in the 200+ range so. Also there are issues with revision control that I have to figure out. I just downloaded IOS 55-64-v5406...but Monster Hunter Tri says that it needs IOS 55-64-v5149. So is the Higher version the better one? Will it play monster hunter? I am assuming that version 5406 is the higher version and better IOS to install...OR do I install both side by side?

Wow pretty confusing if you ask me?

You should just use the guide richardsito said, it will update all your ios and you should be able to play any game you throw at it.
