Hi i just bought my son a red wii and plan on giveing it to him for x-mas and would like to mod it with a chip and would like to be able to use dvd-r backups. is this possible yet???

Nope. Mod chips are useless with a D3-2 drive chipset which you red Wii has. Your only option is to softmod.
Then with the Softmod will it play backups on dvd-r's? and what is the beestmedia to use with the wii's?

No but you can load via USB.
i have got the red wii aswell but the UK model. were can i get everything so i can start playing backup games??
