Wasabi DX Problems! Help please!

I bought a Wasabi DX and have just installed it. My serial code is LEH20835999 wiidrives com tells me this is 100% a GC2-D2E drive. The drive seems to be beeping alot when a burnt game is reading before giving me the black screen error (I've only tried Super Mario Galaxy using Verbatim DVD-R at x3 write speed (IMGburn)). I've tried running the Wasabi 3.0 upgrade disc it reads then the screen goes black no error message then the Wii seems to restart and I'm on the press A screen you usually get when starting the Wii. Also the Wasabi config menu works when the eject button is pressed 3 times.

I don't know what I should try next can anyone help me out here thanks.

Yeah I'm on 4.3E and I'm using a PAL console. I've also checked I have the right switches for PAL I have 1 down 2 up 3 down 4 down. I also forgot to mention original games seem to work fine I had no problems playing Wiisports.

Note: When I turn my Wii on the chips LED stays red intill a disc is inserted. I've tried using the supplied ribbon cable the other both ways always with the blue facing up. I also have the console and drive cables in the right slots. Once a disc has been inserted the chip remains green till it's powered off or ejected.

While I was originally filming the video below for the first time it randomly read my wasabi 1.2 upgrade disc so I guess I'm on 1.2 now, ever since reading that disc and updating no other discs have worked.

**UPDATE**
I think I'm putting this down to either the drive, the discs or the burner. I removed the modchip and softmodded the Wii just to see if I could run a backup from neogamma and guess what! It does exactly the same thing as with the modchip.

So I'm now narrowing it down, I think I can rule the drive out because during the softmod I installed bootmii on "boot2" which appearently post 2008 Wiis can't do. Also there was that one time when for some reason it loaded wasabi upgrade 1.2. I've just ordered some sony dvd-r cheap from amazon so I'll give those a try when they come. Tomorrow I'll rip a fresh iso and burn it using a different drive at x4.

The reason I asked if your wii was on SM 4.3 is because SM 4.3 removes region free.
So if you were trying to play an out of region game, then you would have problems.

Having watched your vid, I'm thinking that you bought this Wii second hand, and before
you bought it, the drive has been swapped out, and your Wii has a D3-2, or D4 drive
that are unable to play backups.

Looks like USB loading is the way for you.

Is it not possible just to swap out the drive for an older model? I know that sounds like alot of work but I personally would prefer dvds to USB/SD card.

Ok you can close this thread if you want. I've ordered a replacement drive which will apparently be a "D2A, D2B, D2C or D2E" Thanks for your help.

My drive was a D2E now I also have a D2B ;). Turns out it was the burner that was the problem.
