Do I need to update my hardmod ?
My Wii is 2.5 years old hardmod (D2Pro9 with wii clip, FW 1.7) and only play US region backed up games, Wii sys menu is 3.4U and Wii is not connected to the internet, do not use Brickblocker, scrubbed disks etc. Currently everything works great.
So far so good. But I am concerned about newer game updates and my children are interested in using Wii speak.
Which Guide to use?
My question is do I need to softmod (mauifrog or Dogeggs guide or ?) or am I fine with the 'Super Mario Galaxy 2' thread by Ithian. I can also use mauifrogs IOS Updating for Hardmods but I don't fully follow that guide. I don't really want to softmod unless I need to.
I would like the Wii to be as simple to use for the kids as possible.
I guess need to update the IOS's. SMG2 Post 135 describes the installation IOS56 without installing any softmod programs like HBC and without updating to 4.2. Is this the way to go (pros / cons vs softmod?)
However without a softmod, I don't have an installed Priiloader and can only block disk updates with the D2Pro. Is that correct?
Should I have a Priiloader (Blocks updates) or NAND backup (with Bootmii) ?? etc.
I'd appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.
