Dude is everyone in here a jerk. It was a joke. In a magazine I beleive wired it said "Linux best antivirus of 2008". as in windows = lots of virii. Linux = no virii. you guys would have never survived on totse.

now since you claim to be in THE software community. then you should know about unix jokes, and how off key they are. like linux is an antivirus. it was a joke making fun of windows. but someone in the software community should know that. since the software community has no social life. yes yes i know that because my friend codes nike.com and his social life ends with facebook or aim. a 14 - 16 hour day at RGA dosnt leave any one with a social life. (it wasnt an insult it is the truth)

I have my linux box scan for Windoze virus across the network using clam av, other times I will have my linux boot scan my windoze hard drives. so yes Linux can be an effective anti virus setup. for the extremely paranoid , you can run windows in a vmware on a linux box.

jtc1967 thanks for being intelligiant. when i had windows i use to use clam av too. but since im only running linux new. i dont see a reason any more. since i only use official sites and repo's for packages. but there are also some killer rootkit programs on linux too. i use them when i fix computers. i just wanted to say thanks for knowing what you are taliking about

I use Bitdefender and like it. Prior to that I used Kaspersky. They are both good to me. I hate McAfee.

Eset Smart Security here with a permanent 31 day trial

I've tried loads of antivirus/security suites in my time, and Eset currently comes up trumps!
