    software backup loader problems

    Hello,

I am having some problems with USB Loader GX as well as Configurable USB Loader. I am able to use USB Loader GX effectively only part of the time. Close to half of the time, the program freezes at "init USB device." However, it will work fine at other times. I have a wbfs hd (I know FAT32 is best), and IOS 249 [38] (rev 17) is installed.

Configurable USB Loader locks up at one of the first screens and in the lower right corner its says v70 and 249 beneath that.

    Any help is appreciated!

Make sure the drive is marked as active and primary. Is it on the compatibility list?

With USB Loader GX, I have been able to backup games and play them off my hd (Toshiba 500GB canvio, non silver, which was on the compatability list). Sometimes USB Loader GX freezes up.

Okay, I installed the d2x cios (v7) to ios 250 (base 57). I also put USB Loader GX to 2.3 (I got the 250 version). The USB Loader GX still gets stuck at initialize USB device. USB Loader CFG, when started from the wii menu, shows a black screen then goes back to the wii menu.

Okay, I have been able to use the hard drive effectively using (ripping and playing) Configurable USB Loader. However, I have to let the program load then plug the hdd in, otherwise it will lock up at the splash screen. Could this be because I am using a USB 3.0 (blue) cable. Would using a 2.0 cable fix this?

Wellp.... it's overkill at best. A lot of users have reported various problems with USB3.0 drives. Some have managed to get them to work, a few cases have long threads detailing their quest to force their drives into submission. USB3 drives seem to *generally* be less compatible with the wii. You could try a different cable. Who knows, it might actually work.

Having said that, I'd recommend a 2.0 drive for Wii use.
