usb loader gx and cfg usbloader woes

i modded this white wii for a fireman buddy of mine. he's copied a few games to his hd. all are retail games and are flawless (no scratches at all). specifically, we've been testing out new super mario wii. roughly every 20-30 minutes, the game will freeze. the hd is on the compatibility list (wd passport 500g), the games are flawless, the mod went through with no hitches at all.

the wii was modded following mauifrog's guide and has worked flawlessly on every wii ive modded. i tested out the drive on my wii (which doesn't read discs) and was able to play for a good 2 hours before becoming bored and switching to Okami.

i've pretty much ruled out the hdd as being the culprit but i could be wrong. this morning, about 10 minutes ago, i had been playing new super mario wii on his wii and it worked for about 30 minutes. i went to surf a few websites, youtube some things, etc etc. came back. i had paused the game for ~20 minutes. when i unpaused it, it initially worked but then the screen froze.

it does this in both usb loader gx and cfg usb loader. is there anything i can look for? has anyone else experienced anything similar to this?

What happens when u plug your own hd into his wii, do u get the same issue, that is how I would check to rule out the hd.

i use a jump drive(and SD card) for the games i play. when i used the jump drive on the problematic wii, the issue still persisted.

I am having the exact same problem with the new wii I bought the kids for Christmas. I just purchased my 3rd HD (made sure the 3rd was on the compatible list) and still having problems Has been a very expensive and frustrating experience.

I now know the problem is not the games or the HD - I also posted a syscheck which I was advised had no problems what else could it be?

If you have found a solution, or if anyone else has any suggestions PLEASE let me know.

    Thanks
