    Question Wiiflow Help Please!

    Ok I'm softmodding a Wii for my girlfriend and the idea is to get Wiiflow running off a portable HDD. (One I know works with the Wii already because I use it to load games from CFG on my Wii_

    I went to the Wiiflow website (WiiFloWiki) to download it and pretty much instantly became confused...

    Under "Downloads" there are several links;

    Committed Wiiflow Versions | Nightly DropBox
    Wiiflow Forwarders (Channels)
    Wiiflow Forwarders (For Priiloader)
    d2x cIOS v7b1d Wad Pack
    d2x cIOS v7b1d Installer.
    IOS58 Installer
    IOS236 Installer

    Which of these do I use? I downloaded the one that the "Committed Wiiflow Versions" lead me to and it downloaded a file called "r417.dol" is this the file I need and if so what do I do with it to get it running Wiiflow from the HDD?

    Sorry if I seem noobish I softmodded my Wii using the Bathax exploit when 4.3 came out and haven't done much of anything but put CFG on it and play Metroid and Zelda on it lol. I'm doing this one with Letterbomb (Blockbuster shut down in my area) and Wiiflow.

    Also the drive I'm using is an 80gig drive with 2 partitions

    Primary(Active) - 50g WBFS for games
    Secondary - 30g Fat32 for Wiiflow and VC-Wiiware games

    r417.dol is WiiFlow 3.0 r417 which is what i use, i agree the site is a bit confusing.
    You need to download that and rename it boot.dol, and plonk it SD:Apps/WiiFlow/boot.dol if you are running from SD etc. It doesn't document that part very well on their site.
    I had the old WiiFlow 2.2 r374 already in use so i simply deleted the boot.dol and replaced it with r417.dol (renamed to boot.dol) but if you upgrade your WiiFlow from another version you MUST delete /wiiflow/settings/gameconfig1.ini and gameconfig2.ini, all WDM files /wiiflow/codes/wdm, and also your /wiiflow/cache/lists folder because it upsets WiiFlow r416 & r417 if these are still present from earlier versions.
    I love WiiFlow, i stumbled across it by accident many a moon ago and have stuck with it ever since. It's only recently i realised it had been developed beyond 2.2 r374 which i used with D2X cIOS v6 for a long long time and found it to be very reliable/stable. I hope r417 and D2X v7 prove to be just as stable, the last few months have been fairly trouble free, with the odd lock-up or crash. Game compatibiility increased dramatically with the new cIOS auto-selection feature!

    Thank you soooooooo much DrewKrewUK I been asking that question all over this site and everybody keeps sending me to the link that shows how to install the wads but that was it. Like it was so hard for someone to say rename r417.dol to boot.dol and throw it in the wiiflow folder. That solved all the problems i was having so easily with this install. I really wish you had a contribute button i would definately press it. Now if the rest of these guys can understand that not everybody on here is as experienced as they are and that just maybe they should post a thread on installing wiiflow for everybody else who dont understand a link page that ends with the file r417.dol. Since they have all the other threads i think this thread is needed just as much as the rest of them. Thanks again you answered a question that took 3 weeks to get an answer on a wiihack site. Oh and thanks again for answering and not just posting another link.

    Thumbs up WiiFlow r417 (continued)

    @superkeith
    That's ok my friend, i'm really glad i helped. It can be frustrating when you have a basic question and everyone just says: "google it" or "search old posts", trust me i've been there lol. I'm fairly new on these forums as i've always found that you can get slated too much for simply trying to help people on them -everyones a critic and has their own opinion on how to do something etc etc, but if you wanna hit my "thanks" button if i have one that would be nice, at least i'll have "1 person thanked DrewKrew" in my stats pmsl...
    WiiFlow isn't documented as much as the other USB Loaders, and it can be a bit confusing on their site. Everyone seems to favour Configurable USB Loader and the like but WiiFlow has always been my favourite. I just wish it got a bit more support, discussion, and contribution from others.
    Glad you got sorted with it anyway ;-)

    You might also be interested in adding an icon.png and a meta.xml (see spoiler). They are not provided by default, but are a nice little addition. Put them in the same folder as the WiiFlow boot.dol (SD:/apps/WiiFlow/).

    Your best bet is to update your softmod (use this guide) and then install the latest WiiFlow.

    Never mind. Guide has been put into "maintenance mode" so to speak. Wait 'till it's ready and THEN update your softmod.

    So i installed d2x wad pack yesterday and did replace the boot.dol yesterday but it didnt work. I followed ur advice and updated the softmod today. Everything went well. With the softmod comes usb loader in app pack and works good. There is wiiflow in app folder that runs from HBC as well. But some games wont play. I still have the old 2.1 wiiflow channel in my titles. My questions are, how do I remove the old wiiflow channel? Does the update of the softmod removes all the d2x wad pack that I installed before? With the softmod i installed the cios pack wich includes all the wads. Do i still have to install d2x cios v7b1d wad pack?
