Your best option is to follow the Softmod ANY Wii Guide (there is a link below in my sig). Follow it all the way through, beginning to end. Don't skip any steps.

Ok I read it over and IT IS A LITTLE INTIMIDATING! Is there any great reason to perform this update? All my games are running - and right now I get the occasional "system memory corrupt" message when exiting a game.

I don't want to make my system worse by messing something up --unless there is a good reason to do it.

Once again thanks for your help

Yeah, that's really up to you to take the advice, especially if you have certain anxiety about doing it.
It will certainly help to make things run smoother, and increase compatability issues, that even if they have not come up yet, certainly will down the road.

The idea for this sort of thing is to evolve the process. It is certainly alot easier to do now, than it was a year ago. There are more filesystems that can work to hold .iso files, than the wbfs that was the only thing available before.
There are more up to date loaders, that are better compatable and have alot more options in them to run.
There are alot more options in terms of the amount of cios that one can have in the system, and that will certainly increase the chances of playing backups.

The guide itself , has eliminated alot of the steps a person would have to take before, and for the most part things install and you just wait for it to happen lol.

I understand how it could look intimidating. This is how I see it: Your IOS are outdated. Your cIOS are outdated. Nothing in your syscheck showed that you have proper brick protection installed. You are having "system files corrupt" error messages.

Solution? The Softmod ANY Wii guide updates all your IOS, cIOS, installs priiloader for brick protection, and gives you the best system menu to be on with 4.1. It will overwrite all your old (and possibly corrupt) files. If you take your time and follow the instructions in the guide, you shouldn't have any issues.

EDIT: Good advice odd...I must have clicked reply right when you posted lol.

The first part above addresses the last part above. I get you have a reluctance to do so, but it won't fix itself without you doing something. Look at it this way: if you know someone who is... more comfortable in likely doing this locally to you, that's always an option as well.

    Hi,

I had a softmoded wii that was successfully running USB loader 1.x which was connected to my external hd.
After a few new games wouldn't run I followed the guide for installing d2x cIOS.

I followed the installation instructions and installed to slot 249 and 250.
However after the install the USB loader GX would no longer load. It would throw this error:

    "needs unstubbed cios 222 v4 or 249 u9+"

    found 222=0
    249=0

Someone suggested that I download the wads for the manual install and install them using wad manager which I have now also done. I then attempted to upgrade Usb Loader to v 2.x but once I got to the part where you install the USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_3_0_AHBPROT.wad using wad manager I get an error "-1029"

Completed lost now, please help. Below is my sysCheck. Appreciate the help!

    Spoiler

Check out the updating GX guide in my sig. If you still have issues with the forwarder installation, try installing it using IOS236 or 36.

Yes you bring up some very valid points - both you and odd - thank you! Perhaps I will roll up my sleeves this weekend - and mod the wii again! -- Now BIG thing --- I would be stepping my system back from 4.2U to 4.1U Correct? This won't fry stuff up? AND eventhough I have Homebrew, priiloader, and bootmi installed already - I still need to do all the steps and reinstall them correct? OR would just installing d2x cios do the job?
Thanks again for all your help.

Downgrading your system menu is optional, but 4.1 is the preferred Sm to be on.
Just start the guide from where it says "Softmods with the Homebrew Channel already installed".
No need to do priiloader or Bootmii again, unless you want to update to the latest revision of priiloader.
