I have followed the guide carefully several times to mod my wii. Everything works great until i load a game. Mario kart for instance will randomly freeze. It will always freeze at the award ceremony and sometimes between levels. I checked with my other games that are backups and they will freeze on occasion as well. I am including a syscheck in my post. if someone could spot the issue for me that would be most appreciated. its a black wii. i have only had it a few weeks. i dont know its history. it plays original games just fine so i know its not the system itself.

Sounds to me that your hard drive may be going into sleep mode. Your mod is fine, but since the hard drive isn't getting information from a windows machine like it is expecting, it goes to sleep in the middle of you using it.

Check the hard drive's manufacturer's web site for a utility to configure the drive and look for a sleep mode that you should set to disable.

Hi, I recently softmodded my wii using mauifrog's Softmood Any Wii Guide. My wii is able to run a few emulators just fine and it can read the games off my USB drive. After installing Dios Mios 2.10 and converting my USB to FAT32 32KB cluster size, USB Loader GX couldn't detect my USB. It just says "Error: USB Device not found. Switching to channel list mode." I'm trying to play my Gamecube backup games off my USB device. I did a system check and am hoping if anyone can let me know if something's missing. I appreciate any help you can give me.

    Hello all,

I have soft modded my wii and everything seems to be as it should. My problem is that when I use the loaders, the games never load. Seems as if the loaders freeze up. Now with UsbLoader gx I have been able to load Wii Sports and it too takes a while to load up.

The mod looks OK. I would check that you have your hard drive formatted and content installed properly by checking out our FAT32 guide, linked in my signature.

Hi, Sorry to hear about your issue.

I have to say that if the games are loading and your able to start to play them, then your wii mod is usually fine then.

from my experiences to date, I have found that the wii used to freeze sometimes in the home brew channel or one of the loaders (wiiflow or USB loader) this turned out to be an issue with the SD card weather it be compatibility or just a dud one. Either way once this card was replaced this has not been an issue since.

    Games Jamming up/freezing/dropping out during loading, etc. I have found this issue is usually caused by the USB device its self. for one of a few reasons, I will list a few;
USB device not plugged in securely (yeah I know, but it can happen).
USB drive going into sleep mode (as another user has mentioned).
    USB device faulty.
USB device not fully compatible (only partial compatibility, ie device can be seen and utilized, but may intermittely drop out).
Slow performing memory in the USB drive (which causes the data to not be able to be read at a rate which is required to sustain a stable game running state).

Not all hard drives are created equal the same as not all flash drives are created equal. Compatibilty can also be an issue with the flash drives and the wii mods. Infact, I have had experienced with many USB 3 flash drives that perform far slower than most basic USB2 flash drives, If I were to try to play games from one of these drives I would be just waiting for the problems to start.

For your issue, I would try for a USB hard drive as opposed to the flash drive, I know flash should be faster, but you may find the hard drive to be the more stable option for your setup.
If not, maybe try a different flash drive. If you have multiples, do some tests on your computer to see when performs better, or read some reviews with flash drive benchmark tests to see what are the better ones with a good price/performance ratio.

    I hope this has helped.

    Us

    Hi All -

First time posting... apologies for any questions that might seem easily answered elsewhere! I got my Wii off Craigslist about a week ago, and I've taken three runs at soft modding it, with the hopes of uploading the Wii collection I purchased onto a HDD and playing it from there. While I've seemingly made it through the process each time, I'm never able to get my console to recognize any USB connection. I've tried formatting in FAT32, NTFS, and WBFS (with WBFS Manager). I've tried with USB Loader GX and Wiiflow. I've tried with 1GB, 2GB, 8GB thumb drives, and my 500GB HDD (which is on the approved list). None work, most methods end up freezing the Wii.

I THINK it has something to do with needing to run D2X v10 beta to install CIOS 249 (based on IOS56) and CIOS 250 (based on IOS57), but when I try running the program it errors out. Not sure where to go from here.

Can someone take a look at my syscheck and perhaps point me in the right direction?

the mod looks fine. Which hard drive are you attempting to use? Is it in our compatibility chart? http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...lity-list.html

Yep, I'm using a Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD5000BEVT (500GB). I thought the drive might be faulty, but I've formatted a couple USB drives that don't work, either.
