Yeah, at the beginning we were told we needed a memory card which was formatted to FAT32, didn't really think it needed to be formatted since mine had worked with the Wii for ages. But yeah, I didn't format the card at any point. I guess that was silly of me. Had some non-wii related stuff and couldn't be arsed to go through that.

I only installed the two wad's that came with the Hackmii installer as I seemed to have a ton in that folder. At some point my apps and wad's were removed from the card (might have been me fumbling with the Mac though) so I only had the ones needed for the hacks and could select all wads with the mod install.

The reason for the format is to not only insure that it is formatted correctly, but also to delete any existing files that may interfere with the mod/operation of the apps. Mix and matching wads from the ANY Wii guide and leftover wads from another source could result in big problems, or worse in a full brick!

And bootmii as boot2 is your best friend!!! Those Wiis are few and far between, and you are lucky you have one. Make certain you save the nand.bin and keys.bin files somewhere safe. The reason for doing the backup was so that if anything went wrong during the mod, you could restore the Wii to the state it was in before the mod (boot2 Wiis allow this, non boot2 Wiis require sending off to a nand programmer).

Yeah, I'm sure you are correct. Also now that I enabled the Priiloader and put it to not accept updates from discs I think my son might not be able to brick it too easily. Hopefully the Wii should bring joy for at least 5 more years (We do have the PS3 too, but noone likes to play on that).

Good point about being able to fix the Wii through the bootmii. I suppose if I turn of the "press A" at startup it won't slow the system down but still be a cheap insurance. Although I couldn't imagine sending off the Wii for repairs, I think I can get a used one with games for about 60 euros (dunno how easy they will be to mod).

I guess I might have saved myself some time if I had immediately used the backup. If my memory serves me correct it was very easy to install the HBC as I already had a modchip which allowed me to immediately run a hack.

Alright. Here's my problem. Games used to load fine for the last few years. The other morning I woke up and the wii had been left on with a Ok prompt box with some sort of Update Completed message. I panicked immediately, of course. So I hit OK, and it went back to the system menu... I have no clue what was actually updated, but feared the worst.

I immediately noticed that nothing was really missing. HBC was still there. On reboot, BootMii still loads up before i have to hit A. So I tried to play a game. USB Loader GX loaded up fine. The games showed up just fine. But when i tried to click on any of them to load them, I only got black screens and lockups. Had to hold down the power button to shut down. I tried loading/reloading stuff hoping something would click, but nothing did. I then tried going thru the softmod guide again as I had read in another thread here, but no success. I did bypass a few steps due to still having BootMii and HBC installed and working.

Anyway, I must be missing something, so this is my next step. Here's my system check, in hopes that it reveals something that I've skipped or ignored. If you think I need to run thru the guide again, following every single step or at least tell me which ones I do or don't need to do.

    So... Help?!?

    TIA

    Spoiler

Technically, your softmod is close to spec. I do see d2x V7 final (as opposed to V8 final which is installed in the guide). They have the right base, but again slightly older version. I don't see that accounting for the issue(s) you presented. But it does indicate you didn't follow the guide properly... try it again.

Alright. Will do. Should I follow all steps as if my Wii wasn't modded at all? As in run the BannerBomb again, etc? Or is it safe to start at Chapter 2 since I already have those things prior to that installed?

Hello everyone I am brand new to the site so forgive my noobness. I went to a place that does mods and they installed Neogamma r9 beta 56.....it seems to work fine for my wii titles but when trying to boot my GC games they simply restart the system. I previously had most GC games on DVD+R's but had to convert them to DVD-R's for this new install since the system will no longer read DVD+R's. None of the GC games will boot....it simply restarts the console. Not sure why this is. Not very good with installing stuff on the SD card....but I understand the basics. If someone can let me know what the problem is or how I can install what I need step by step that would be amazing. Thanks so much in advance.

Yeah, whatever you do , do not post a system check. It is so cliche.
