Have the games ever worked before? What USB Loader are you using? Have you tried any other loaders? Do any games work at all?

    And your Wii is PAL...

Sounds like you either have a bunch of bad rips or they were improperly loaded to your HDD. If it was a region problem you would at least see something on the screen, it wouldn't just return you to the home screen. You should re-rip the games using your original discs. Also, you can use one of the apps in the FAT32 Guide if you have the rips on your PC. They will tell you if the rip was good or not.

If you installed box art into your loader, look for what the rating is. If it's an ESRB rating, it's NTFS. If it's a PEGI rating, or some other number-based rating, it's probably PAL.

And what exactly does this have to do with syschecks? If you want to post one, this is the place to do so. If you want to ask unrelated questions, there are other places to do that.

Thanks llaffer and Jax. I followed the guide from the beginning, did some really minor changes as it was suggested I'd install all Wad's with WiiMod but had a ton of them in my folder. Guess I should have formatted my SD card before I began. I did feel a bit silly following the guides so strictly, even made a backup of the Wii when told to even if I suspected the wii wouldn't work anyway. Guess I'll make a new one now that it works.

I think it was the Modpack files or IOS update that saved my day. I had tried starting a game immediately prior to that step with the same result, and after I added USB loader to my card I could successfully start a backup.

There were a few spots in the guide where I hoped it might have been more exact. Maybe if someone has the rights to update it the guide could elaborate in these steps?

Part 2- Install The HomeBrew Channel and Bootmii
    (...)
Install Bootmii as Boot2(boot2 may not be available, IOS installs automatically)
    - Why should we have Bootmii as Boot2? Now my Nintendo is automatically booting to this annoying new menu.

    Verify Checksums -very important
MAC users- you can use Free File Sharing Made Simple - MediaFire

    - Checksums program for Mac wouldn't work (MBA 10.8.4) Had to access a PC to verify the checksums

If updating your IOS, Select "IOS-Update" -Press A
Press (1) to "Install all Wads" - Press A
25 wads should install without error

    - I assumed "IOS-Update" would have been an option in the Wiimod, did get that I just needed to go to the sub-folder from the Wad-installer at first.

Thanks again for your help Sorry for not posting a sys-check, but everything seems to work now

Strange, I wrote a long post thanking llaffer and Jax and wrote a few tips for making the softmod guide even better, but can't see my post. Perhaps I fubared it when I was editing it.

Anyway, it seems the Modpack and IOS update solved my problem and everything seems to work even though I get into this weird menu when I start the Wii (Bootmii?).

I take it you didnt format the sd card as instructed at the beginning of chapter 3...(by your own admission you didnt do it before chapter 1 either, you are lucky you didnt mess anything up) Rename the bootmii folder on the root of your sd card to something else (like bootmii1). After that bootmii will not load when you start your Wii. Should you ever need to access it again simply name the folder back to bootmii and it will load.
