    Hello guys!

I sure hope this is the correct thread to post in, since I tried searching in vain for a solution to my problem.

I've had my Wii for ages, and my son loves to play the games I backed up to the USB HDD-drive. However he had been pestering me to allow him to use discs instead (I'm really good at loosing them) and when I bought him a new game I didn't put it in the USB HDD but instead gave him the disc. Obviously this was a bad mistake by me, and as soon as I turned my back he had started updating the Wii firmware from the disc but being impatient he turned off the Wii and repeated that step once.

The Wii still boots nicely, and I can access the homebrew channel. When I open the USB Loader GX to run a game it looks like it would launch but instead throws me back to the homebrew channel, so it won't allow me to launch games from my USB drive. I can however run some small games that I installed on the Wii main menu.

I followed the instructions to get Syscheck to my Wii, but after I launch it from the homebrew channel I soon get the following error message:
Failed to get the stored TMD size for IOS41

When I remove the SD card from the Wii there are no extra files in the syscheck folder, so apparently it won't save the details after that error comes up.

I'd greatly appreciate some help. FWIW I have a mod-chip on the wii but have been using the homebrew channel for convenience.

Edit: Forgot to mention that when I originally did the softmod I followed the instructions I could find, and consequently saved the files such as nand.bin and keys.bin in case they are of any use.

Since your system is booting up fine, sounds like the update took hold (which had a real chance of a brick due to his impatience -- you don't shut of a system in the middle of an update).

You can re-mod your system using our Softmod Any Wii guide to reinstall your mod (I would reinstall all the "4.3 optional" components as well, just in case something got messed up with the power-down).

Part of Chapter 2 is installing and configuring priiloader, which will prevent disk and network-based updates in the future.

if you have a boot2 wii then you can use the nand and keys to restore it.
This is how you tell if you a boot2 wii...Turn on the wii and if the Disk Drive flashes twice/, then you have a boot2 wii and can restore it. you have to put the Bootmii folder on the root of the sd card with the nand and keys also placed at the root of the sd card.

If you don't have a boot2 wii you will have to follow the soft mod any wii guide...Link is at the bottom of my signature.
Start from softmods with homebrew channel installed.
You will have to follow the rest of the guide in it's entirety.

    Good Luck.

While what Jax said is true, you'll have to remod your system after that anyway.

    Thank you, Llaffer!

Llaffer , is right , if you did not make a back up of your nand after you completed your mod you will have to go through the Soft Mod guide.

It'd suggest that you look at our Softmod Any Wii guide to update your mod to current (you're behind) and to get current versions of USB Loaders.

Then check out the Dios Mios guide to see how to install, prepare the games, and install them to your USB to be played.

Both guides are linked in my signature.

Your syscheck looks fine. You are going to have to provide more details as to what exactly the problems are. Any error codes? Disc or USB loading? What exactly is happening?

Its basically USB lodding... With no error codes...
When I click on the game it blinks for a while in and goes back to the WII home page.

How can I know if my wii is NTSC or PAL.
