relative newbie - almost there but games crashing

Hi all, this is my first post and only a couple of hours into softmodding my Wii,

I've followed the tutorial as best as i can and have managed to get to the point where I'm running USB Loader Gx V3.0 r1180 sucessfully on the HB channel, I can see a tiled list of games from my WBSF formated external disk. My problem is around stability - many of the titles I'm testing crash half way through the game i.e. the game almost loads up alows me to select a charater etc but when it get to the part of loading the significant portion of the actual game the system hangs. The point at which games hang is not consistent. I'm guessing it's a cIOS problem but havent got a clue which ones I should have installed where. Anyhelp is much appreciated .... My syscheck is:

Your hack is non existent, you are missing cios's and do not have priiloader installed.
Please follow the Soft Mod Any Wii Guide.Link is at the bottom of my Signature.
Start from Soft Mod With Homebrew Channel Installed.
Please read everything a few times , then proceed.
Also you should format your HDD to Fat32...Link to fat32 Guide.

ISSUE: USB Loaders always black-screen after attempting to lauch a game.

Hello all. I recently soft-modded my Wii following the CompleteSoftmodGuide. After failing to get any USB loaders working I used ModMii to attempt the mod process again in the hopes that it would catch something I may have missed. At this point I still cannot load games with USB loaders.

I have spent the most time working with WiiFlow, as it has shown the most progress. I am currently launching WiiFlow from an SD and reading game files off an NTFS USB. WiiFlow recognizes the USB as well as game files on it. The short intro-video even displays from the WiiFlow menus. When attempting to launch any game however I briefly see the WiiFlow loading symbol and then only a black screen. I have attempting running both ISO and wdfs versions of Super Mario Galaxy. I have also tried FAT32 formatted USBs withbthe same results.

Current prinout for SysCheck is below. I'm really hoping somebody can see something I've missed as this is driving me crazy.

Make sure your HDD is supported in the Usb Compatibility List.

Also have a look here Blackscreens Causes & Solutions.

Looks like you do not have all of the needed cIOS. Redo your softmod and make sure you install all of the cIOS

Thanks for the reply jax, greatly appreciated. I have been reading for several days and it seemed time to turn to the community.

I have had no issue getting WiiFlow to see backups on the USB drive, so I had assumed it was compatible. I don't see my hard drive listed, but just to be sure I have tested again with a supported drive and still encounter the same issues. I haven't found a solution in the Blackscreens help list either, as far as I can tell everything is set up correctly. My best guess at this point is that the guides I followed to setup missed something important. I will be going back to follow the Softmod Any Wii guide to try and find anything that differs from my current set-up. It would be appreciated if anybody can take a quick look at the SysCheck I posted to see if there's anything obvious I may have missed.

If I find a solution, I'll be sure to post back.
    Happy modding!

And BxLgnd replies a moment before I post.
I was hoping this was a cIOS problem. I'll go through the Softmod Any Wii guide and see if I can track down what I've missed.
    Thank you!

    newbie

Hello there I am a newbie at console-modding and just recently softmodded my son's Wii with the intent of being able to use the USB loader and put backup of the games on it. Even though I can see the HBC I am fairly sure I am still missing something for the whole thing to work. If I try to install Wad Manager GUI it says missing ios 249. I still fail to understand exactly what ios's are for.
I have a couple questions and would greatly appreciate if you could help out. Ran a syscheck so I will be posting he results as well.

    1) lot of discussion about the better format for the USB drive but I seem to understand that FAT32 is definitely better, is this correct?

    2) Looking at my syscheck report, most of the ios are stub or no patches, I have the feeling I am still missing a lot here is this correct? what ios do i need basically to run usb loader and the games?

Please remand me to any guide if available I am an avid student but there are too many guides out there on this topic and each single one is different so please help me choosing a good one.

    Thanks a lot

Hi - I'm currently working on softmodding my 4th wii now. I have followed Softmod any Wii ...but still no results. Its a 3.1U and I don't know what the previous owner did to it. I chose to format the wii ....I am just trying to complete step one with getting bootmii going and getting things started. The closest I have gotten after trying all alternatives with bannerbomb is the Letterbomb. I see the screen of what looks like hackmii, but then the system quickly restarts itself back to the wii home menu. WTF is wrong with this wii? What am I missing?
