This could be your Drive, try cleaning the drive with a kit.
The game having scratches can cause it to error out when installing it to the HDD,as well give you error's when loading through the Disc drive.
Since you are getting error's while installing the game, I would presume that's why you are getting error's when trying to play from the HDD.

This could be both your drive and disc, and that's why the game plays on your friends wii and not yours.

Can you rip the game from a friends wii to your HDD?
So you can see if you get the same error or if it will just play.
Would you recommend the cleaning disc from the gameshops, or simply a can of compressed air to clean the disc drive(and lens, I assume)? Unfortunately I can't do that, because he doesn't want his hacked. I'm trying to convert an ISO of the game now to WBFS to see if that will work, but it doesn't show up in the loader at all even though all 1.17 GB is as it should be on the hdd.

I would say cleaning disc,But anything that can get the job done without damaging the drive.

Kirby's return to dreamland is 1.35Gb's.(I just checked on my HDD.)

Try to Get a copy from a trustful source...please don't tell us where you got it from.

    exception (dsi) occurred

    Lectori Salutem,

After having used our wii for over 2 years without a problem (modded from day1), a few weeks ago it all began. First DVD's that worked well would give read errors. I've first reburned the dvd's which solved the problem only for a few days, then replaced the DVD player of the Wii. Alas to no avail. Later also games from the USB drive crashed. So I thought it would be an idea to re-softmod the system.

I followed the Softmod Guide to the letter (with updates, md5-checks, sd-card formats and backups) and it seemed to work... but only for the first game. Changing games, accessing channels all result in memory address dumps with the text: Exception (dsi) occurred.

I've inserted a copied disk and tried to start with NeoGamma and it tells me: DVD error, 03023a00. Drive too new for DVD-R. Well, it's a DVD+R and verifying the disk with BackupManager gives me no errors. Original disks work well. The original of Skylanders for instance, can be played, the backup of it crashes. And we've used the backup disk previously all the time because the original wants you to update your system :-(

Games from the USB Harddisk (a Western Digital 320 GB My Passport Essential, FAT32) are all shown and like said, after modding will work only once, then all others result in crashes. I've tested this with all three USB loaders (wii-flow, loader gx and cfg loader) all with the same result.

And so I thought to make a syscheck and even that crashed the first time while trying to sort titles even without any USB disk attached or DVD inserted. But the second time it got till the end and produced a csv.

    Questions:

    - Can anyone have a look at the system and tell me any oddities?

    Spoiler

    - Why do I get these exception dumps all the time (with any app or game) and does anyone have a suggestion how to solve it?

    Thanks for your time.

    Léon

Not debating your point, but simply questioning; are you sure the extra .15 isn't from save data? Everything I've seen, from forum posts by other members or on other forums - to the loader when I attempted installing, said the total was 1.17GB.

I'll get a cleaning disc and see if that improves anything. Thanks!

Not from saves at all , as it saves to the wii's Memory and or to the emulated nand that I use from time to time.

This is what shows on my CFG Loader,it could be wrong.(Nothing is perfect.)

    It's always good to Question's one's opinion/answer.

Well, a 'Kirby's Return to Dreamland' ISO converted into a WBFS using WBFS Manager 3.0 to a Sandisc Cruzer 4GB worked with CFG. Disappointed, however, that it did not install from my disc... Nonetheless, I suppose my problem is now solved - and the game really is amazing so far.

Thank you for taking the time to read my issue and assist me in correcting it. I deeply appreciate every bit of advice given to me.
