    Spoiler

I notice you updated to d2x v8 in slots 249 and 250, which is not in the ANY Wii guide. Did your HDD work with v7, or did you just install v8 hoping it would fix your problem?

What I likely did, was after I completed the Softmod ANY Wii guide, noticing nothing worked STILL, I tried the d2x cIOS installation guide also in your signature, as I might have read some topic/replies from other people saying how that helped them.

When I first attempted to update my Wii last week, it was running on v7 im pretty sure (but not certain) The HDD WAS running 6 months to a year ago. Only recently did I decide to update everything when things were not working. I couldn't actually tell you if it was running with d2x v7 before or not.

When problems first started my HDD would only load if I turned on the Wii, loaded up wiiflow, and THEN turned my HDD on. Wiiflow would tell me that it needed to locate a partition, I pointed to it, and then it would read properly.

Does that mean that d2x v7 should be put back? Because it wasn't running with v7 either.

We need to narrow down what happened between when it was working and when it stopped working. D2x v8 has caused a few compatibility issues with some HDDs. But you say it stopped working before you even installed v7, correct?

In all honesty, I'm not sure if I had v7 or v6 or under installed. It was roughly one year ago that I know 100% for sure things worked. And up until the last few months, I hadn't attempted to use my Wii. I noticed when I brought my system to camp, and nothing would load. Thought it was because my SD card wasn't in the system or that I had the wrong HDD. But I had the right HDD and all my roms/games loaded strictly from the usb HDD and not the SD card itself.

I think it's a fair assumption to say that I had v7 installed previously. Unfortunately I don't think I have an old syscon report to give me any insight.

One other thing that I remember is that my WiiFlow forwarded channel was working for a while, and possibly stopped working when I wanted to change the theme/forwarder(not sure what it's called exactly). When I went to load the forwarder channel it cycled back to the system menu, and I would have to load the forwarder channel from the Homebrew Channel to load the HDD.

Off hand, there is nothing in your syscheck that red flags as a problem. Are you still using (or attempting to use) your HDD to load all the apps, or do you have an sd card now?

You may be onto something there actually.

I have the SD card with the loaders on it. My hard drive is set up with a WBFS, Fat32 (for roms/saves originally) and NTFS for personal things. Installed forwarder channels for Config, wiiflow, and loaderGX as per 'Softmod Any WII guide'. The homebrew channel won't even find my HDD.

For the Homebrew Channel to load apps from my HDD, I had to load WiiFlow from my SD card, mount the WBFS partition, cycle back to the homebrew channel and THEN I could click the "USB" button in the menu and read the drive. Now, it doesn't do that.

    **short version**

Apps LOAD from SD but won't/cant read the HDD if they have need to look there.

Well I must say that was a rather strange way to get your HDD to work....

All those partitions aren't necessary and wbfs format is outdated. Also sounds like your HDD isn't formatted correctly.

Check out THIS app to convert your wbfs partition to fat32. Make sure the partition is set to primary and active. Then try launching your loaders again. You could also merge the two fat32 partitions into one using easus.

Very strange way indeed. With all the wii's I've modded for people, mine was the only one to ever have that problem.

I've just stuck with the WBFS partition because:

    1) It has worked perfectly (when it was working) and
    2) I didn't want to format and lose the data on the wbfs partition (not enough space to copy games over)

Back years ago when I first got the drive working, the guide I had used said to do 2 (or 3 perhaps) partitions: WBFS, Fat32 for apps/loaders and/or (optional) NTFS for whatever else data. So I used that. For a long time it worked flawlessly.

I'll give your suggestion of that app a try when I get home in a while.

Should I leave d2x v8 installed, or go back to a previous version?

I would leave it at v8 for now. Checking one thing at a time is the best way to troubleshoot. Once you have your drive set up correctly we can go from there.
